This year could end with a bang.
Scientists recently spotted an asteroid on a direct collision course to Earth projected to hit a day before the presidential elections in November.
The flying space object, known as 2018VP1, is expected on Nov. 2, according to the Center for Near Objects Studies at NASAs Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
The asteroid is 6.5 feet in diameter, according to NASA data, and first identified at the Palomar Observatory in California two years ago.
The space agency says there could be three potential impacts based on 21 observations spanning 12.968 days, with the chance of a direct impact less than 1%.

Sweet Meteor of Death???
Aiming for Biden’s basement.
That’s not very big for an asteroid, it would probably burn up or break into fragments that would maybe leave a hole in somebody’s roof at worst.
I am more concerned about Comet Biden-Harris.
2 meters in diameter wont get thru the atmosphere.
Portland.
6.5 feet in diameter: won’t most of that burn up in the earth’s atmosphere?
Waiting for the Joe Biden soundbite about him being the only candidate who can save us from hemorrhoids er, um ass-teroids.
...the chance of a direct impact less than 1%.Yawn.
Democrats are resorting to pretty desperate measures.
Killjoy
:\
By contrast, the Chicxulub asteroid (or comet) was tens of miles in diameter.
Ideally, if it does impact the earth, it will fall where it does the least harm.
Dual hurricanes in the gulf possibly combining,
asteroids, viruses and murder hornets....
Still, nothing is worse than demoncrats..
It also depends on the iron content, relative speed, and incidence angle, but this is pretty small.
Needs to be renamed to “demonicrat hidin’ bidin’ meteor”. Peak relevance is on 2 November. It will either be a complete miss or burn out in the high atmosphere without leaving a trace - a metaphor to its new namesake.
Biden says if you wear a mask, you’ll be ok.
UPDATE: Based on infrasound analysis by Peter Brown of the University of Western Ontario, 2014 AA likely impacted the atmosphere over the Atlantic around 0300 UTC at 40° west, 12° north about 1,900 miles east of Caracas, Venezuela. The impact released the equivalent of 500 to 1,000 tons (0.5 1 kiloton) of TNT, but far above a remote and uninhabited area. Read more on Sky & Telescope here.
