Julia Louis-Dreyfus is a funny lady. How can you not laugh when watching Elaine awkwardly dance on Seinfeld? That's why her flat jokes and terrible timing during Thursday night's Democratic National Convention were pretty surprising. In fact, on more than occasion, her jokes were downright cruel.
We knew from the start her emceeing would be cringeworthy because of this early exchange with former presidential candidate Andrew Yang. This one short, brutal clip will give you an idea.
It got worse. At one point she joked about President Trump's golf game. But it was her insult toward Vice President Mike Pence that took the prize. As she was discussing the Trump administration, she intentionally mispronounced Pence's last name.
For those who don't know (we didn't), "poonce" is slang for a male homosexual in Australia. Considering that Vice President Mike Pence is known for his traditional family values, it's no mystery what Louis-Dreyfus was driving at. There's a second, crass definition of "poonce," which you can read here at Urban Dictionary.

It’s not funny if you have to explain it. I thought it was a slam at Tucker not pronouncing Kommiela’s name properly.
She was funny on Seinfeld because she played a know nothing ditz.
Recall the episode where she thinks her boyfriend is black and he thinks she’s hispanic because she’s always taking him to Spanish restaurants because “he’s black”.

It was part of a comedy skit... for everyone getting Kampala’s name wrong... it was the funniest bit of the whole night...but still lame.

Based on envy, I’d surmise. Disarmed populace less than a tenth our size, for starters. But they love lecturing us.
She might have had some moments but she was definitely the least funny of the four main characters. She was kind of Zeppo Marx while the others played Groucho, Harpo, and Chico. Frankly, I don't know how anyone could have found that convention skid in anyway funny. It was just lame.
Until this moment I was blissfully ignorant of that. That was so bad that I have to conclude that Hillary was a better SOS than a comedian. I don't know how the bar could set any lower.

She USED to pronounce it “KahMAHla” until the nomination. Isn’t it curious that she wants her name pronounced more caucasian sounding (like PAMela) now that she is running as the first BLACK VP??
