The Republican National Convention Needs To Rock
The Federalist ^ | 8/19/20 | David Marcus

Posted on 08/20/2020 2:32:51 AM PDT by Libloather

It’s kind of amazing. The Democratic Party has at its disposal pretty much all of the talent in Hollywood and yet their boring infomercial of a national convention makes watching tomatoes turn red look like the Super Bowl. Calling it boring is an insult to boring people who can at least be calm and soothing. The DNC is just flat out unwatchable. I’ve been wondering why, and I think I figured it out.

Among the myriad jobs I had in my 20 years doing theater, one of my favorites was being a stage manager. It’s a great job. I wrote a joke about it once. How many stage managers does it take to screw in a light bulb? One. Said with deadly seriousness. It is the stage manager who makes everything happen when it is supposed to happen. A live event is fraught with potential mishaps. The stage manager gives everyone five and makes sure the lights come up. The problem with the DNC? They made it a movie when a convention needs to be a theater production.

So here is a little free advice for the Republicans. First of all, in the name of all that is good and holy, there needs to be some kind of audience. I don’t care if it’s 10 people sitting in a Dairy Queen parking lot, we need to see actual people reacting to speeches and nominations in real time. I get it, Democrats are dedicated to the idea that we all have to live in hermetically sealed households with masks on until Trump is defeated. The GOP must send the opposite message.

Feature the fan base.

Agreed. Maybe another airport hanger setting like the President did four years ago.

I noticed the DNC saved all the music (except that.....performance on Monday night) until today. Using Obama’s modus operandi of holding a rock concert to bring in the big crowds.

Would love to see the viewer numbers from pre-speech tonight to when Biden speaks. The chart would probably look like a triple black diamond ski slope.

Viewership for the Dem convention is way down cause Biden and Harris have little to offer. Not too many care for what the Dems are selling.
The Pubbies on the other hand are cookoo for The Donald and will watch in much better numbers.

Yeah, that’s the one I missed because I didn’t go there *12 hours early*.

[we were just part of the massive crowd who didn’t get in, milling around outside]

:-\

I wish he’d done Gettysburg.

Fwiw, I sat through all of that BORING NONSENSE both nights.= DEADLY doesn’t do justice to how AWFUL that the DNC virtual convention was.
I suspect night #3 will be just as bad, unless Biden “goes off script” & says something REALLY NUTS.

Thus the RNC convention only has to AVOID being BORING to be a positive plus.

It doesn’t matter what kind of setting the convention has. Thanks to wimpy Republicans most of the week’s news will be about the post office hearings.

I hope they invite Leo Terrell to speak. He’s such a passionate new Trumpster. Like a new Christian lol.

Needs this lady:

“Do you care about Black lives? The people that run Baltimore don’t,” she says in the ad. “I can prove it. Walk with me.”

“Look at this,” she says while walking through the urban decay. “How are children supposed to live and play here.”

It should be held in an arena, just like his MAGA rallies. American Flags music... a typical Trump affair.

An audience is essential. Plus LIVE presentations. The boring pre recorded crap from the Democrats must be avoided at all costs.
Money quote:

“First of all, in the name of all that is good and holy, there needs to be some kind of audience. I don’t care if it’s 10 people sitting in a Dairy Queen parking lot, we need to see actual people reacting to speeches and nominations in real time. Feature the fan base. Elections are about the American people more than they are about candidates. Speeches shot two weeks ago in some Falls Church, Virginia studio won’t cut it. It feels old, it feels prepackaged, it feels like turning the channel. “

The RNC could have naked women dancing on stage around Trump and the likes of CNN, MSNBC and the rest will still call it boring. Don’t expect any positive reporting from that crew of maniacs, only lies, and false reporting.

Next week it’s our turn. All conservatives should turn in every night to watch the RNC convention to make sure Trump has viewership ratings as high as possible, especially in comparison to the DNC fiasco. Tell all your friends and neighbors that are conservative and/or interested independents to make sure to tune in to the Pub convention. Let’s keep OUR turnout something to behold in comparison to Sleepy Joe’s roadshow.

Maybe they just don’t care because they are confident in the fraud networks they have in place to steal the election.

Their convention is just a box to check off.

The Democrat convention is beyond pathetic. And I know that's cliche but it's really the only way to put it.

So far I've only seen a little of it and that was last night. It's like watching an old car, running on bare fumes, chugging along and trying to make it just one more mile.

That is what I think of when I think of last night. The Democratic Party is a car run out of gas. No energy or forward momentum at all. It's going to have to find and capture some real vibrancy between now and November, instead of trying to rely on "orange man bad!"

I attended one of the airplane hanger events during the 2016 primary - Hagerstown, MD. Great fun.
