Various shortages have struck during the coronavirus pandemic, ranging from toilet paper (which was caused by panic buying during the early days), coins, and even aluminum cans. Now, pepperoni has apparently fallen victim to the pandemic.
Pizza shops across the United States say theyre paying higher prices for the popular topping and have noticed that the supply has become tighter, Bloomberg reports. Restaurants from New York to South Dakota have reportedly seen a significant increase in price, with the cost nearly doubling in some areas.
According to the news outlet, other meat products saw temporary price increases during the pandemic. While ground beef became more expensive earlier in the year, the price has reportedly started to drop. Pepperoni, on the other hand, continues to be expensive.

Who cares? As long as they don’t run out of anchovies.
A nice lady from Italy does the same for me when I go to her restaurant and order one of their pies. The crust edges are bubbly like chiabatta, so it's good to order a side of live oil to dip the crusts in. Or better yet, buttery garlic wine sauce.
Man, I'm hungry now.
NO, I shopped yesterday, meats short supply and high cost for bad cuts.
Best find a way to get your news feed to set for FOOD RECALLS, more than usual past 2 weeks. Meat to produce.
Plenty of Pepperoni in Packages at store, if you must have you can add to your pie, add as much as you want. It’s a NO-NO for my ruined GI tract.
Best part of the old spaghetti westerns was when they would shoot a hole in a slice of pepperoni tossed into the air.
Pizza pepperoni shortage!! A sure sign that the Apocalypse is nigh!
Now back to our regular programming...
One of my daughters used to date a kid who preferred bacon on his pizza. I came to acquire that taste after some time.
A continuation of the “We’re all gonna die” panic.
Back in March, the Nazi media was beating the bacon and sausage shortage drum. Didn’t happen. Now it’s pepperoni. Next month it will be a sliced bologna and canned tuna shortage.
ME TO, jar spaghetti sauce occasionally is OK, not often. Watching how greasy. Got a Air Fryer.
Government dietary experts have concluded that pepperoni is too risky for the general public and should only be consumed by, ah, government dietary experts. You’ll eat your pineapple and like it, citizen!
You DO realize that is all sliced by hand by slaves owned by Nike in China, right?
LOL
There was a Shakey’s Pizza in Cocoa Beach FL which we ate at every year on our vacation when I was growing up. Do they still exist anywhere?
Shakey’s still in business in CA, WA, and Mexico.
What brand convection oven, airfryer, microwave did you buy?
It’s a Daewoo. It was a $279 unit we got on a weekend online sale for $169, and they were going quick. The following week, they were back in stock for $249. So far, color me impressed. Even does a serviceable job on frozen pizza. I wasn’t too sure about a microwave that could convection roast and air fry, but my buddy in WV decided to drop some cash on an air fryer he found on sale at Ollie’s, and he said it did a more than adequate job. He even went back and bought a 2nd so he’d have a backup if the first one died on him. You can tell that the food isn’t actually deep fried, but that’s healthier, and it gets it crisper than it would if you stuck it on a cookie sheet in the oven. It came with different cooking trays for each kind of cooking you want to do with it and our 12 year old grandson had it mastered with little effort. It must be a discontinued model because I don’t see it on their web site anymore, which would explain the price drop, but they have similar models and for what we paid, it’s been worth every penny so far. It’s got a stainless interior and bless me if I know how they can do that without the microwave arcing all over the place. But it’s easier to keep clean than a microwave with a standard lining. As for me, I just wanted a new microwave before the old one blew half the cabinets off the wall.
Much like the thread about kiwifruit on pizza, some people are not willing to try different toppings. I happen to like onions also, but no chain seems to carry one of my preferred toppings, Zucchini.
I buy the Spaghetti sauce. Many of the food RECALLS have been from Kroger. Cheese 17 types, with dips is latest. Who knows if they get pulled, as so many shelves are bare, or spotty bare. Not a bag of baby Lima beans in site. Lemons, limes, potatoes, other produce, especially pre cut.
H & B stool softener’s missing, Walgreens too. Plenty of hair dye.
Were you shopping when you typed this? You could have left out the part about the stool softener. LOL!
