Abbott demanded last week for Texas residents to wear masks at all times, even if they are in their own backyards, to stop the spread of COVID-19. “People need to understand that until we have better medications that can treat COVID-19, until we have the vaccines that will end COVID-19, people must maintain vigilance, even when just gathering with family members, to make sure you do continue to wear masks,” he added.

He is even peeing in it and yet he is still drinking it wholesale. Abbott will not see any support from this social conservative. I'll just not pull the lever next to his name if he is on the next general election ballot on November 8, 2022 or in the primaries either. I have a long memory. He is definitely part of the problem with Republicans these days who have no spine to stand up to the liberals. And I'll even donate to to his primary opponent in 2022. Abbott is a liberal worshiping weenie.

It’s nonsense like this that makes more people skeptical and less willing to take advice that’s actually good. There is ZERO benefit to wearing a mask in your own back yard, unless you’ve invited over so many people that you’re packed in shoulder to shoulder. SARS-CoV-2 doesn’t spread well outdoors.
Here’s the basic advice they should be pushing across the board: wash your hands regularly and especially when you’ve been outside your home, actively avoid touching your face as much as possible particularly when outside your own home, wear a multi-layer woven fiber mask that covers your nose and mouth when in an indoor public place (like a grocery store, but not outside or at home because that’s pointless), avoid crowds, practice social distancing.
If everyone does that, transmission rates crater. Telling people to do other things that don’t make any sense just ends up confusing and irritating people.

He's absolutely right. I'm tired of people thinking they can just do without masks if they are with family. That's how family gets infected. It's how teenagers ended up with dead parents (in GA) or many family members are killed by covid (in CO).
It just shows who he really is deep down inside. No guts to stand up (no pun interned) liberalism.
