Washington D.C., Aug 14, 2020 / 03:49 pm MT (CNA) - More than 100 Democratic politicians have sent a letter to the party’s Platform Committee, calling for changes in the platform to accept pro-life Democrats and assure them that their view will be respected.
“In the U.S., pro-life Democrats have been a critical part of the coalition to expand voting rights, improve health care, and pass criminal justice reform,” the letter said. “These accomplishments would not have been possible if the Democratic Party had in place a litmus test on abortion.”

Dated August 14, the letter was signed by 105 elected Democratic politicians, both current and retired. Signatories include local officials and state legislators, as well as nine members of Congress and three governors.
Among the signatories were Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards, who signed a “heartbeat bill” into law earlier in 2019, and U.S. Senator Katrina Jackson, who authored the Louisiana law on abortion clinic admitting privileges that the Supreme Court struck down earlier this year.
Another signatory was U.S. Senator Mike Gabbard of Hawaii, father of U.S. Representative Tulsi Gabbard, whose support for limiting abortion in the third trimester put her in stark contrast with most of the other candidates vying for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination.
According to Democrats for Life of America, dozens of additional politicians said they quietly supported the letter but feared the repercussions of signing it.
The letter’s signers said they worried about a type of pro-abortion litmus test that has been created within the Democratic Party.
They suggested that pro-abortion language within the party’s platform is radical and out-of-touch with the views of Americans.

You cannot be Pro Second Amendment and a Democrat, yet 34% of NRA Members are Registered Democrats.

IMHO....if the American people/voters has an ounce of common sense they would totally avoid tuning to the Democrat Party POTUS/VP Convention, that commences next week.
Why? To send a hard, clear message to Democrats, Nancy Pelosi & Chuck Schumer...that they better get together with POTUS, Trump and immediately approve the next series of government support checks to aid folks and families weather this virus crisis ($3400.00 for a family of four). I am certain that POTUS, Trump will be hitting on that item and many others as he skillfully takes advantage of this already failed convention next week as he campaigns widely through key swing states.
Trump will have two powerful, strong weeks, chatting & campaigning openly and answer all questions, face to face with the Media & American people!! Wise up Demnocrats...you all got two loser on your ticket...Biden, who can’t find the nearest bathroom on his own, and Harris who is seriously in love with herself, flush with tons of ego...but lacking any substance or personality whatsoever. Harris will do a cute political downgrade job on Biden...so that she can be moved up to be the real Democrat, POTUS nominee.
This current Democrat Party needs to be politically destroyed from top to bottom. Folks, avoid watching if by the millions...it will be a total waste of your time!!.

People aren’t stupid. they will put on that platform that the last two weeks of pregnancy there shouldn’t be abortions.
that’s about as far as they would go. And in a million other respects the Democratic party is the party of death so no matter what they say you are voting for evil.
They need more votes. The reality of fraud is in too many minds, illegals can’t vote yet, and they’ve way overplayed the racism thing and are probably starting to turn minorities off.
It’s all a lie. Plus, no one pays attention to party platforms.
