Four people were charged with rioting after windows were broken and property was defaced in several neighborhoods overnight in Richmond, causing the shutdown of the John Marshall courthouse downtown.
Mayor Levar Stoney and Commonwealth's Attorney Colette McEachin both noted that all of Wednesday's court cases were delayed at the John Marshall Courts Building, including a sentencing hearing for a man convicted of the second-degree murder of Markiya Dickson, the 9-year-old killed while playing in Carter Jones Park.
"We can't go about bringing justice to her because of your selfishness," Stoney said at a regularly-scheduled coronavirus news conference Wednesday afternoon, referring to those responsible for breaking 22 windows at the courts building.

The courthouse is an all glass building. 22 windows broken means 22 5 x 12 foot glass panels, which are the exterior of the building, have been smashed.

We have had rioting for as long as Portland. It largely goes unreported nationally.
I bet the rioters in Richmond are white boys.

Mayor Levar Stoney should be arrested on charges of misfeasance, malfeasance, and nonfeasance.
But then Richmond voters would have to be similarly charged for electing Stoney in the first place.
Maybe Richmond should just be paved over and start again.
Why is that? Is the mayor or the governor some special favorite of the press?

Yep. VCU students returned to their dorms this week with nothing to do.
All but one of my daughters classes at VCU is on line. She is not looking forward to going into town for one class. I think that class ends at 9pm, she is not happy about it. Fortunately she still lives at home and not on campus.
