HELP-- daughter oxygen on the oximeter measuring 89

Posted on 08/11/2020 9:18:17 PM PDT by terart

I am sorry I am putting this out late...my daughter texted me at 10pm tonight and I never saw it and now can't get hold of her or her husband by phone.

Yesterday she had level at 94, last night and today 92 and today 89. She was tested for COVID Sunday and she got back Negative this afternoon but now I am very worried.

What should I do?

Either a false negative or she has another cardiovascular disease that's pushing her into dangerously low O2 levels. Contact a medical professional immediately.

Many insurance plans have a "Nurse Line" or something similar. I'd call them and ask for advice right away.

“should I be freaking out at 89%?”

93% is low, 90% or less means its time to hook up oxygen.

She should go to the hospital regardless. There are other reasons such as low rbc’s or even a false negative. Either way she should be seen.

Have her try different fingers and take a few deep breaths to see if that boosts the reading. The $40’ish drug store pulse/oximeters probably aren’t the most accurate devices.

I am going to wait it out and just pray...would you all say a quick prayer for her (Meagan). I will go there early tomorrow. I guess that is all I can do...just really worried after seeing her text :(

If they’re not alerting/calling you, maybe you could wait until you hear from them?

Just the other day, after our walk, my husband had an 89
....but a few seconds later it was up to 92, and on

No, as a former EMS worker you really do need to seek professional advice tonight. It would be a good idea to head to the ED to have her checked out.

The method they use for testing is not meant for diagnostics, but originally for research. PCR testing is unreliable in a diagnostic medium.

Honestly, with O2 of 90, that’s highly abnormal. I would call your doctor, or whoever is on call, and ask for advice.

If it were me, because I’m high-risk, I’d text my doc. If he told me to head to the ER, I would.

A few hours of low oxygen like that could induce brain damage. It is not something to sleep on.

The oxygen concentration might also continue to drop further, if it has already been dropping.

If they have a pulse oximeter, test it again immediately. If it is not back up to normal, she should go straight to the hospital, or some place that can administer oxygen (fire department, police, etc.).

Everyone is right to treat this as a medical emergency.

If it is COVID, the patient should be treated within 5 days of the first symptoms. The very successful Zelenko protocol is as follows:

Zinc is the main anti-viral. However, to deliver the zinc into the cells where the virus is, you must take hydroxychloroquine. Hydroxychloroquine is a "zinc ionophore." If hydroxychloroquine is not available, then quercetin can be used 500mg twice per day.

Your Oxygen Level can go down for a lot of reasons, try panic attack and hyperventilating.

Emergency Room will diagnose her, put her on oxygen.

Ultimately, they may just counsel her on her breathing.

Zinc Sulfate, Vitamin D3, Vitamin K2, Beta Glucan, L Ascorbic Acid or Sodium Ascorbate, Activated Quercetin, Melatonin, Proteolytic Enzymes, Magnesium Glycinate.

Dosage...depends on body size.

This is my concern

This woman’s daughter is married and her husband is with her....
...they are, no doubt, monitoring the oxygen level

What do you all want this parent to do?...jump in her car and drive 20 minutes somewhere ......it’s after midnight!
And if her daughter is not home, or sleeping and doesn’t come to the door, what is this parent suppose to do?
Call 911 to the daughter’s house?
In love I am asking this

In goodwill many of you are giving advice and scaring this parent!
What do you expect her to do?
All due respect to all of you, I know you mean well

Once you get in touch with them, if she is not already in the hospital, have her go to one that is trusted. If the hospital wants to send her home as they sometimes do, don’t let them discharge her until her oxegen levels are normal for a couple days.

I have no idea if this is good advice. I only know that if my friend had not been discharged, he would be in a whole lot better shape than he is now in ICU and unable to talk. A second friend that was sent home was also rushed back in critical condition.
