They're emphasizing their ability to suspend all services and accounts of any user who violates their MS Services Agreement.
A rather lengthy list, but this statement caught my attention: "Dont engage in activity that is harmful to you, the Services or others (e.g., transmitting viruses, stalking, posting terrorist or violent extremist content, communicating hate speech, or advocating violence against others).
I wonder who gets to define the above? What, exactly, will they consider hate speech?
Code of Conduct.
a. By agreeing to these Terms, youre agreeing that, when using the Services, you will follow these rules:
i. Dont do anything illegal.
ii. Dont engage in any activity that exploits, harms, or threatens to harm children.
iii. Dont send spam or engage in phishing. Spam is unwanted or unsolicited bulk email, postings, contact requests, SMS (text messages), instant messages, or similar electronic communications. Phishing is sending emails or other electronic communications to fraudulently or unlawfully induce recipients to reveal personal or sensitive information, such as passwords, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, passport numbers, credit card information, financial information, or other sensitive information, or to gain access to accounts or records, exfiltration of documents or other sensitive information, payment and/or financial benefit.
iv. Dont publicly display or use the Services to share inappropriate content or material (involving, for example, nudity, bestiality, pornography, offensive language, graphic violence, or criminal activity).
v. Dont engage in activity that is fraudulent, false or misleading (e.g., asking for money under false pretenses, impersonating someone else, manipulating the Services to increase play count, or affect rankings, ratings, or comments).
vi. Dont circumvent any restrictions on access to or availability of the Services.
vii. Dont engage in activity that is harmful to you, the Services or others (e.g., transmitting viruses, stalking, posting terrorist or violent extremist content, communicating hate speech, or advocating violence against others).
viii. Dont infringe upon the rights of others (e.g., unauthorized sharing of copyrighted music or other copyrighted material, resale or other distribution of Bing maps, or photographs).
ix. Dont engage in activity that violates the privacy of others.
x. Dont help others break these rules.
b. Enforcement. If you violate these Terms, we may stop providing Services to you or we may close your Microsoft account. We may also block delivery of a communication (like email, file sharing or instant message) to or from the Services in an effort to enforce these Terms or we may remove or refuse to publish Your Content for any reason. When investigating alleged violations of these Terms, Microsoft reserves the right to review Your Content in order to resolve the issue. However, we cannot monitor the entire Services and make no attempt to do so.
Yes. We are there now, arent we?
“hate speech?”
There is no such thing as “hate speech”, there is only FREE SPEECH!
Did the framers say that you can’t yell “FIRE” in a crowded movie theater? NO! If I were in a crowded movie theater and someone yelled “FIRE”, I’d say where’s the smoke? BE QUIET! The rest of us are trying to watch the movie!
Did they restrict “speech” in ANY way? NO!
“Why freedom of speech should not be limited?
However, even words taken out of context are just words and cannot be subjected to a banning every time it offends someone. The First Amendment doesn’t take sides. Putting limits on freedom of speech only creates a slippery slope where more and more beliefs and stances become censored, edited or never heard.Apr 5, 2013”
How far down that “slippery slope” have we slid? TOO FAR!
There should be no slope at all. All speech is permitted/guaranteed by the constitution. The “Black Robes” have and are whittling away at ALL of our rights.

Very stable.

The installer can push Windows aside and install itself along side windows. You get a new menu on pre-boot up to choose between linux or windows to boot up to. Use linux for everything you can, especially internet stuff. Use windows for the rare instance when there’s no linux equivalent application. Only thing I use windows for is a couple of auto repair apps.
“It can mean whatever you want it to mean.”
If a person threatens to do harm to him/herself, is that hate speech?
According to Ken Ward in his book “Free Speech and the Development of Liberal Virtues,”:
“There is no legal definition of “hate speech” under U.S. law, just as there is no legal definition for evil ideas, rudeness, unpatriotic speech, or any other kind of speech that people might condemn.”

The problem here is they are confusing hate speech with hate crimes. Under the First Amendment, American citizens have the legal right to say whatever theyd like to. Not to be confused with hate crimes, a persons speech does not affect another persons physical condition or personal property and is, therefore, not punishable by law. For example, a person who makes bigoted statements while threatening bodily harm to a person of the Muslim faith can be charged with a crime. Charges would not be brought about simply due to any insulting language used, but charges may be applied because it is illegal to make threats against a person causing or leading the physical damage. Mental don’t mean squat as they are leading the reader to assume.

Time to ditch MS for good.
[[What, exactly, will they consider hate speech?]]
They will consider hate speech to be Posts about their emails-
Hmmmm. Shoulda picked Apple fer ur computer enjoyment. Just sayin’.
[[Thats the beauty of the term hate speech. It can mean whatever you want it to mean.]]
Conservatives should start a twitter alternative, and kick every liberal off claiming that they broke the TOS for hate pseech
Try to convince Mint to start Mint KDE back up, and I will definitely go back to Mint;
I preferred Mint over the other Distros... Using Manjaro now, and it is “bla” (don’t like Cinnamon nor Mate).
Post the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights and see if that triggers hate speech or violence warnings.
TikTok is spyware and Microsoft is trying to buy it.
Hate Speech is refusing to take Uncle Gates’ vaccine so he decided to banish you to the cornfield.
I must live on the other half of the world since I never received it........At least it's summer, hot and warm where I live.
I was offering something stable for a possible convert.
I love the Plasma desktop myself, when it’s working correctly and had it with Mint KDE but I installed the KDE PIM programs, Kmail etc and something broke my system badly. Probably could have been fixed somehow but I knew that 18.x was the last Mint KDE version so I just swapped to Kubuntu which has Plasma. So far, Kubuntu/KDE/Plasma seems to be nice and stable. Other times I’ve tried it in the past, not so much. I’d lose volume control or the puter would freeze up like windows.
All I’ve ever used is Ubuntu based flavors, Ubuntu, Lubuntu, Xubuntu, Mint etc so I don’t want to change to another base system and learn the few commands I know all over again.
I hate to disagree with you sir, but it was time to ditch MS sometime last century.
