I live in WA state. I purposefully want my state to lose representation in congress because ... have you seen who lives out here. Consider my refusal to do the census as a service to the rest of you.
If you’ve thought it through... (not sure you have-House Rep? but you have your own judgements to make)
Then I can’t blame you.
If you haven’t hurt a conservative area, then fine with me.
Hysterical. I like the way you think. Those people are relentless, though. If you don’t answer, they will ask a neighbor how many people live in your house and they will keep asking until someone tells them.
> so we just wrote, American
Same here - American !
Well, it is a Constitutional mandate from our Founders...
I can’t do the census, those of us living overseas, don’t count.
Evidently, the Defense and State Departments provide the Census Bureau a count of military and civilian employees, family members, and contractors living overseas. But from what I can tell, they don’t get the full information found on a census form.
I suspect that the 2020 Census will be problematic. Field work is just starting and since Census Day is April 1, people have been selling and buying homes and moving to new apartments and I can only imagine how many people answer the door to say that they moved into the house in May and I have no idea how many people lived here on April 1 or even if they were here - uhmm - I think the house was vacant - uhm no - oh, I don't know.
I did see the other day, the head of the Census Bureau told Congress field work will be done by the end of September. God help them, please.
I'm one of those that don't mind if faceless and nameless people know my business. My theory is that nothing is secret anyway, so why pretend there is such a thing as privacy?
So the poster I commented on has quite the opposite thought, but I appreciated the contrary opinion and how it was stated. I chose to neglect posting my own thoughts since my comment was about that poster.
I think there is a ton of interesting information from the Census Bureau and there are always surprises from the population count. In 2010, everyone was expecting Cali to lose one or two seats in the House and actually ended up gaining one since there are so many illegal aliens residing there and Montana lost a House seat, which can hurt if you only have two reps. I recall Montana had an absolute fit, perhaps sued (??) and had to be soothed into catching its breath since it lost its House seat by only about 1,700 souls too short.
I noticed that for 2020, Montana is expected to gain it back, which is bittersweet since the new seat will probably be democrat as it was before - those environmental folks, you see.
Trump's directive to exclude illegal aliens will fail because the Supreme Court will rule against him. The Constitution uses the word inhabitants and not citizens, I believe. But you know Roberts will vote against Trump, so it is doomed. Pity.
Yeah, I’m sure our Founders meant legal inhabitants.
But there’s only 3 Justices who care what they meant.
” don’t mind if faceless and nameless people know my business. “
That’s no problem with the normal census.
Interesting points though.
Yeah, well the representation [power] part is answered by giving a number of residents at the adress.
And that is ALL the census is supposed to do.
The money part should not even be a thought...if it is apportioned by population, then the first answer suffices. If money is doled out because of race, then its racist.
Either way,it is not virtue signalling to refuse to answer stupid questions.
” it is not virtue signalling to refuse to answer stupid questions. “
Yeah it is.
How do you like that LOL!
Cheating a conservative area out of power, money, and influence pleases someone..., who is that?
You?
Never received the packet. Cannot do it online.
The only thing being “cheated” is the money...and like I said, if it is raced based, then its not going to the conservative community like you seem to believe it is. Things like roads for example are or should be based on population, not race.
If you have answered the enumeration question, then the power and influence questions are answered. Representation is apportioned and with it “power”.
You should look into this.
Try, the online portal and if it fails you should be given an alternate method.
“Whatever”...
Sorry, but you just seem a fool to me.
Yeah, the “ethnic” questions are foolish, But not answering them is more foolish.
And you a fool to me.
Have a great day.
You too.
But I do hope you’re not cheating a conservative area of it’s power, money and influence.
Still.
“I started to do it online but they asked too many questions. I just wanted to tell them how many people lived at my address and nothing more. They didnt allow that so I bailed.”
So did I ... all they need to know is how many people live at the address ... that’s it, nothing more.
