Grab your popcorn! Walmart is lifting the curtain on plans for the Walmart Drive-in, a drive-in movie theater experience, which is rolling into 160 Walmart stores across the country beginning this month, created in partnership with the Tribeca Film Festival.

This press release features multimedia. View the full release here: https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20200805005617/en/

Available for free to Walmart customers, the Walmart Drive-in will transform Walmart parking lots into outdoor cinemas from August 14 through October 21 with 320 showings of hit movies. Starting today at 5:00 p.m. ET, families can visit www.TheWalmartDriveIn.com to discover dates, store locations and the movies for each stop of the movie tour.

"We recognize the challenges our customers and their families have faced over the last few months and we wanted to create an experience where they could come together safely to create new memories," said Janey Whiteside, Walmart’s Chief Customer Officer. "The Walmart Drive-in is one small way we’re supporting the communities we serve."

Well that’s different and interesting, but I don’t need to watch their movies. I’m a Walmart shopper. Ours isn’t a big city one.

Why can’t real theatres with parking lots do this?

At our Kitty Hawk NC Walmart, there are signs indicating “No Over Night Parking”. Seems the Saturday and Sunday check-ins were using the parking lot for tail gate parties to avoid the wait to get to their rental. Seriously.

Yeah - but as a kid it was sure fun.

Even as a dad it was fun taking the kids to the drive-in. Pickup truck with the bed loaded up with pillows and blankets. Kids in their P.J.s. Carry them up to their beds after they pleaded to watch the second show.... falling asleep 30 minutes into it.

Of course now Walmart will have to contend with shutting down the movies that don't meet with the leftist’s approval.

Some lady shut down a movie night near Seattle. They were going to show “Kindergarten Cop” with Arnold Schwarzenegger. Something to do about cops in schools creating a pipeline for black kids to prison. (The insane are running the asylum!)

lol

Who knows??

And the theaters where I am from...the lots are TREMENDOUS!!

Great capitalist thinking on your part and sometimes something that may seem obvious to one isn’t obvious to many others.

I’ve never considered it. It makes great sense given the proletariat rules we now live under

The local Walmart by me could show about 40 movies per night, just by using parked semi-trailers as the screen background.

Just wait until the people who come by bus decide to open fire on each other. That would add a level of live-action excitement!!

Propaganda. You can bet the communists’ messages will be in the films shown.

You people are so naive. There are no “nice gestures” from corporate entities. It’s either for their benefit, or their globalist sponsors’.

They actually had movies to watch in those outdoor places? I thought they were parking lots where you could practice making babies.

Another super size corporation cutting off at the pass what was starting to be a new venue for independent local companies.

We don’t need “Walmart” drive in theaters.

We need any market for drive in theaters open to independent companies to achieve without their aims being crushed by giants like Walmart.

Another woke corporation joining a long ago woke very political film festival to push a bunch of politicized movies in their parking lots from now to just before election day.

Conservatives across the country should boycott this.

Something to do about cops in schools creating a pipeline for black kids to prison. (The insane are running the asylum!)

They’re probably more worried about the little kid who says “boys have a penis and girls have a vagina” but cops are a convenient target right now. The leap of logic is astounding, considering that no one at the school knows he’s a cop except the Principal.
