It’s just not the right time or place for new FBI funding.

Maybe corrupt democrats want to reward the FBI for becoming an organization that protects white liberal 'elites' rather than protecting all the people of our country. It would fit with their contempt toward citizens - and middle-class people who 'shop at Walmart'...

They're not what they use to be - maybe the building should be torn down and not rebuilt. Liberal elites can build them a place to hang out... the rest of us don't owe them the time of day. For all we know they're working with Antifa to burn down our cities...

Maybe he wants to reward them for spying on him and covering it up?

“Since Trump is a builder, he probably wants one built on his watch”

Another good point, hadn’t thought of that. But still would be more suitable in other legislation. And yes, build it far away from corrupt D.C.

And to all, I appreciate the replies. Guess I’ll try to get some sleep and quit thinking about politics for awhile,,hopefully!

There are no doubt quite a few who might want to do that.

I would settle for simply removing J. Edgar Hoover's name from the falling-apart FBI headquarters building.

And don't even appropriate over a billion dollars for a new one.

The FBI needs to be downsized just as a slew of other federal agencies and departments should be also.

Let's hope PDJT will initiate some drastic cuts in his next term.

Reward for treason and running spy operations against the White House.

I see no need for it. They failed to detect 9/11, the Boston Bombers, Fort Hood, San Bernadino, etc.
They literally tried to overthrow the government and place spies into the White House against the President. They have done absolutely NOTHING against the organizers of BLM and ANTIFA riots. They even knelt in support!

They do not deserve a new building to further their incompetence and treason.

“Because the FBI building is literally falling apart and they have needed another one for at least 10 years. The current one is about 50 years old and was poorly built - plus the FBI has outgrown it number wise.”

Sucks to be them. And that also means they have grown too big.

The amount is obscene when you consier they have built about 16 regional buildings in the last 20 years.

Assuming that half the funds are land, design, logistics, furniture, fixtures and equipment that still puts construction at 625 million. At 450/SF is 1.4 million square feet. As a retired builder of big government crap, this sounds off the charts.

“In addition, the building fronts Penn Ave and is not considered safe if there is a car/truck bomb”

The maybe the “premier” domestic intelligence agency should get their ass in gear to prevent things before they happen.

It might be time to dismantle FBI. Give their responsibilities to other agencies. We have Secret Service, ATF, Marshalls, ICE, Border Patrol, IRS, TSA, NSA, etc. Ultimately we would be better off because all the powers won’t be concentrated with FBI.

If it’s part of the plan to overhaul the FBI, which is highly likely, then it’s more than worth it.

Redskins charged their name. DC wants the ‘redskins’ back in DC for games. FBI moving out as a swap will be the deal.

The Left wants to move the FBI out of DC and into Virginia or Maryland suburbs.

It’s not the left. It’s pretty much everyone but Trump.

Well, to answer the headline question:
if the FBI gets a new 1.75 billion dollar Headquarters, then they will finally be able to live up to their Fidelity Bravery ‘INTEGRITY’ motto.
( for a few years )

“In addition, the building fronts Penn Ave and is not considered safe if there is a car/truck bomb.”

Then close down that block and install concrete barriers and save the 1.75 billion. Next problem please...

Yup. Packaging pork in another bill.

Furthermore, why is the FBI being rewarded for illegal behavior? And yes, we have all heard the Hannity daily mantra over the last three years, “Ninety-nine per cent of FBI agents are good guys.” Tough-titty... let em suffer like the rest of us. Besides, these people are getting PAID, unlike 30million Americans who actually work for a living.
