GM was talking about this 20 years ago with what they called a “skateboard” platform. I suspect there were issues with safety and lack of customer demand.

like the VW thing... but more...
with the exception of the electronic steering, i’d do it.
but if the electronics go out... i’d want to be able to control the thing until it stopped.

Yeah, people are pounding on the doors for electric modular cars, yup, Dream come true, it is.

*FUTURE* CARS ARE SELF-DRIVING. You can only go where your social credit score permits you to go.
“I’m sorry Dave; I can’t take you there today. Please submit your appeal to the social credit office if you feel this restriction is in error.”
The people who run Twitter will run the road system.

Exactly, no.
If anything, steam ought to make a comeback, since its fully mechanical and not susceptible to anything such as EMP attacks. Abner Dobles advancements were unfortunately eclipsed by his own overly-perfectionist tendencies, which drove up expenses to the breaking point and reduced his work to the playthings of the super-rich.

I’d swear they stripped down Max’s old Interceptor for that.

This is the beauty of Capitalism. Not the car, but the choices it gives to the car buyer. I think it looks like a turd, but for other people I'm sure it's everything they desire.

If only that was the intent of its proponents, rather than to give drivers no choice but this.

I kinda like the Nikola pickup truck. Also like its method of power, hydrogen conversion to electricity. Much superior to pure EV as has better power, range, takes about same amount of time to refuel as gasoline or diesel counterpart. Also, its exhaust is pure clean potable water. So, it can be collected and drank if lost in the desert 🐫...

Thats the promise of the eBussy... No, no, no! Nobody is going to want to drive a "truck" named after a San Francisco interior decorator. Call it "Dominator" and put some flames on the sides and maybe.

But can it core a apple?
Oh yeah, sorry. That was the chef of the future.
