Juh-YAP-all the Jackal.
Juh-YAP-all the Jackal.
These people are so full of themselves.
These people are so full of sh!t.
Therefore, themselves = sh!t.
If I was paid a dollar for every time my surname was mispronounced, even by those who have known me for over 20 years, I’d be a very wealthy man.
Another filthy Indian like pinchai.
Indians do no good to America
I hear you. See post #24
It’s not unusual for sports teams to include a pronunciation guide.
For example, a popular basketball player for St. John’s University:
God’sgift Achiuwa
last name pronounced ‘ah-CHOO-uh’
From a Christian family in Nigeria, with siblings named Grace, Peace, Promise, God’swill, and Precious. Not the best basketball player ever, but a member of the conference All-Academic squad and a terrific ambassador for the school, his country and Christianity.
There would appear to be no problem with Jayapal; as it’s pronounced the way it’s spelt, ‘Jaya-pal.’
The problem with Jayapal is that Indians say it with an Indian-English accent; whereas we who speak American-English don’t have that accent.
To us, Indian-English speakers pronounce many English words with an accent, which is neither right nor wrong.
For that matter, it takes a little getting used to speakers with a British-English accent. Again, it’s not a question of right or wrong.
But, of course, to Democrats, who are self-righteous and hyper-sensitive, who come to this country and stand in judgment of us, we Americans are supposed to so facile as to be able to perfectly imitate all accents.
They are ignorant and hateful people and the thought that they might gain total control of the federal government this fall is frightening.
A particularly ugly creature. Both inside and out.
Don’t hate on all Indians.
There are a lot of productive and caring folks from India - especially Madras, who want nothing to do with liberalism and the evil it spews.
The late Ravi Zacharias was one of them - RIP.
Me too.
One should at least make the effort to get someone's name right.
OTOH, this is something better handled privately than with a public scolding...
I just re-watched Pee Wees Big Adventure. In his immortal words: Ive seen better heads on a boil.
Jayapal actually pronounced “b!tch with a capital ‘c’” ... all the letters are silent, you see.
Jayapal is one nasty piece of work. I’d hate to be her husband or child.
I've worked with, and sometimes been displaced by Indians.
I can't speak for the one at your local 7-11, but the ones with the gumption and skills to make it in Silicon Valley are, for the most part, good people and and hard working contributors.
I had the privilege of working for a character named Deepak Chopra (not that one, the other one!) back in the mid 70s in southern California. He came to America on a student visa, got a green card, and became a citizen. Brilliant man, hard working, smart, and an inspirational leader. Last I checked he parlayed that barely scraping along 30 person company into a $1,000,000,000.00 a year business!
I'll take all the Indians I can find like him!
She looks like an ugly version of Ravi Shankar.
lol
Yeah I even remember back to early grade school having it pronounced wrong :)
I’d say throughout my entire life...maybe several thousand times.
Too funny :)
A smarmy indignantly self-important effete neo-aristocracy.
Wow! What an eye-brow opening event for a (democrat party) national press story!
“Obviously” the evil-white-racist-republican hate-filled repubican cannot tolerate the nice friendly, eco-tolerant, non-violent black democrat woman of color - did I mention black democrat party woman of color? - who opposes the racist white hate-filled republican party hack!
(Never mind the illegal lies and blatant hypocrisy presented by the endless democrat speeches (concealed as questions) to Barr. Let us concentrate on how a racist-white republican says a Eco-tolerant black democrat woman-of-color name! )
Is you name Vomit?
When I was in Sales, it was the thing they pounded into our heads—everyone loves hearing their name pronounced right. Especially when you are asking them for money.
