Not a surprising incident with the number of seals and white sharks that are in New England waters.
New England waters are not that conducive to swimming like those in other parts of this country and around the world
If more time was spent in the water here, I am sure we would have more than our share of shark attacks, since seals and white sharks are protected by the Federal Government, and we have plenty of both species. -Tom

Wasn’t that the first scene in JAWS?
We are going to need a bigger boat.

The water in Maine is cold, so it is a bit surprising....seeing sharks off of Cape Cod are more expected due to the warm water.

Very very rare for Harpswell; there are lots of seals though.

Great. So now when they re-open the oceans we’ll all have to wear chainmail swimsuits. I TOLD you making mask wearing mandatory was a bad idea.

Of course it’s a surprising incident. When is the last time a swimmer was killed by a shark off the coast of New England?

RIP to the lady who died. The description from the newscaster said she was flung up out of the water. My money is on a LARGE white shark, with the strength to do that. That’s what they do to seals, when attacking from below. I hope she did not suffer :(

I used to live around there, and can remember in the summertime seeing large schools of seals of Fort Popham.
