Ratings were doing well, despite the sentiments of many (including myself).

Couldn't happen to a nicer set of kneelers.

How can anyone trust anything coming from major league sports, period?

Now that they’re kneeling every chance they get, and have sold themselves to all the political nonsense.

If it’s political, it’s a big fat lie.

Financially, the owners would come out ahead if they didn’t play this season. Reason being, they haven’t been able to sell tickets and have people in the stadium.

Financially, owners were scheduled to incur some big losses this year, just to say they had played a season.

Now with this situation, I could see them deciding to abandon the season.

That's Business as Usual for the Marlins.

I don’t wish COVID on anyone...

That said, Karma.

I have the opposite impression. They’ve been so insistent about playing this season that I’ve assumed they are facing some serious financial penalties under their TV contracts if they don’t play at all.

Owners can weather the losses far easier than the players.

Unless there’s a WuFlu clause in the players’ contracts...

If not, it’s gonna suck to be the players.

They’re going to wish they hadn’t pi$$ed away all the fans’ good will by embracing the BLM crap when the players go ball cap in hand, begging for a bailoout.

No one who has ever pledged allegiance to the flag should be watching these people for a minute. That’s all.

That could be. I don’t know those details of the TV contracts. I had heard that between 40 and 50% of total revenues for teams comes from ticket sales and other game day sales at ballparks. And that they are paying the players their prorata salaries. I had heard that the TV money was also reduced prorata based on how many games they play.

But it’s a game changer, pardon the pun, if they have penalty payments to the broadcast partners if they don’t play a season. Then the incentive is to ride out this virus bubble and hope we don’t see more of them.

If fans tuned out, the makegoods likely would have put a hole in already lousy reveues anyway.

I’ll bet this is really about BLM and not WuFlu.

Now that I think about it, though, wouldn’t the owners have some kind of force majeur clause protecting them? And likely from something like WuFlu, not BLM.

Bet it makes far more financial sense to blame WuFlu than BLM.

So much for virtue signalling all year with blm on the mound and kneeling.
Funny my phone changed blm to all capitals I had to change it.

I hope they cancel the stupid season.

If they do then this season will be remembered for two things only: COVID canceled it and the players called all their fans racists. That's it, that will be the legacy of this year.

I'm a midling baseball fan, I have the game on in the background most night but don't follow it religiously. I haven't watched a game this year and will not. I may walk away from it altogether. Who needs this greedy a-hole players giving me the finger so they can show off how woke they are? They can kiss my ass.

If they cancel the season after three games, Dr. Fauci could be a contender for the Cy Young Award.
