President Trump announced Sunday he wouldn't be throwing out the opening pitch for the New York Yankees next month as he had planned, citing meetings and other work related to the U.S.'s COVID-19 outbreak.
In a tweet, Trump said that he would plan to throw out the first pitch at a game later in the MLB's season, which began last week.
"Because of my strong focus on the China Virus, including scheduled meetings on Vaccines, our economy and much else, I won’t be able to be in New York to throw out the opening pitch for the @Yankees on August 15th. We will make it later in the season!" he tweeted.

Kate Smith was the second to the last straw for me with the Yankees. The whole league (less Cleveland) can pond sand as far as Im concerned.
deBlasio denounced the Yankees for inviting the President yesterday and characterized it as inviting hate and a bunch of other insults. Today Trump cancels. I wonder what threats went on behind the scenes with Yankee management?

Cuomo and de Blasio would have probably tried to prevent President Trump from entering New York.

Knowing Trump he will eventually do this but smart not to give the left ammunition from throwing a bad pitch to having players take a knee as some sort of protest before he comes out wasn’t worth it at this point...besides what’s Debalso going to do to the Yankees if they ever threatened to leave New York he’d pass out
Back in the day I was an Orioles fan, but New York was always a great team. Now they are clearly a bunch of bums.
Been a Blue Jays and general MLB fan somewhat less obviously They aren’t dead to me but I no longer follow them with any degree of devotion. I used to watch the All Star game and post season religiously and that ended about 10 or more years ago. I’m sad at what is happening but since I haven’t followed them for a while it’s like the WNBA walkout to me now.

CNN will "report" the stadium was dead quiet after Trump threw out the first pitch.
