COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - Investigators say a child who died after a shooting at an apartment complex in Columbia on Wednesday night accidentally shot himself.
It happened around 6 p.m. at the Wyndham Pointe Apartments on Brighton Hill Road. Thats off Parklane Road near the Interstate 77 and 277 interchange in northeast Columbia.
Liam Myers, 3, was rushed to the hospital by family members before deputies arrived. He had a gunshot wound in his upper body and was pronounced dead when they got there.
Friday, investigators with the Richland County Sheriffs Department said preliminary evidence shows the little boy accidentally shot himself.
Witnesses told deputies they were talking in another room when they heard the gunshot.
A Glock 45 was found under a mattress in a bedroom of the apartment, the report states. A woman who lives in the apartment told deputies thats where she put the gun after the shooting happened.
When deputies ran the gun against the National Crime Information Center database, it came back clear, the report said.
The child did not live at the apartment complex where he was shot, officials say. Myers address is listed as another apartment complex off Saint Andrews Road near Broad River Road in northwest Columbia.
Murder - whether it happened as described or not.
Who else was there when it happened?
People are always ready with an opinion.
“...accidentally”. How else would a 3 year-old have shot himself?

Seems just a liiiiiitle bit fishy ...

Very responsible of her to put the Glock under the mattress for safe keeping.
Everyone panic buying guns without taking the necessary steps to make sure that firearm is secure.
I wonder if that gun was a recent buy or if they’re “experienced” with guns in the house? My bet is they shouldn’t be put in responsibility of a pet rock let alone a baby.
At least it wasn’t a pool.
BS. A 3 year-olds hands are not big enough to pull a Glock trigger with the muzzle pointing back at him.
And he pulled the trigger with his thumb.
And I didn’t even charge you for it.
“Trigger pull on a Glock Model 45 is 26 Newtons (~5.8 pounds)”
Exactly. My first thought was how’d he pull the trigger? Now add in the mother then hid the gun under a mattress.
That child didn’t shoot himself.
Babysitting gone wrong? quite wrong in every way
I guarantee most of the toddlers who shoot themselves with the parents gun stories are cover for murders, or at least negligent shootings.

= = =
If he was really, really smart, and comprehended the state of world affairs (as presented by MSM), and then realized how bad everything was and did not want to die from COVID, and did not accept the reality of GOD, he might have ‘logically’ offed himself.
I don’t own a Glock because they’re always cocked when loaded and it only takes a relatively light pull on the center of the trigger while depressing the mini-trigger in the center to discharge one, creating a constant danger of this kind of a tragedy.
The Glock Model 45 is in 9mm, only pointing that out because when people ask for a Glock 45 and I show them one they act surprised that it’s 9mm.
What they want is a Glock 21, 30 or 36.
Did Epstein tell the kid everything just before he didn’t kill himself?
