In past eras there have been movements that emphasized girth. For some it was a sign of wealth. For some a sign of a hearty homemaker with the strength (or maybe a good cook).

That’s true of course, . . . there are always exceptions to the general rule. But, there are good reasons that those “movements” were mostly short-lived. In the main, women with some defined shape akin to an hourglass are more desirable to most men than those shaped like a pear. Many cross-cultural studies over the past 100 years or so have demonstrated the same thing.
