184 million years of separation, whew.
I'd never heard of crossbreeding paddlefish and sturgeon, I guess they didn't teach us about in in *school*. /rimshot

I was told there would be murder hornets.

They look like Sturgeon. The only fish I eat is tuna fish in tuna melts. I don’t eat seafood at all.

The researchers also believe the offspring, like most crossbred offspring, are infertile. Until it turns out they're not.
To: BenLurkin
Accident or not, they’ll have to pay support until the fish are grown and gone.

You may have started an alliteration nightmare.

Try some high quality sardines, boneless and skinless in olive oil. Excellent and super healthy. You mean you have never had a nice grilled wild salmon fillet with a side of rice and veggies? Yum!

Well, infertile doesn’t mean they can’t produce eggs, just that they probably can’t successfully fertilize the eggs.
To: a fool in paradise
Dunno, but I'd guess the caviar is not that great.

Wisconsin has so many Sturgeon (Lake and Shovelnose) that we have a 16 day season dedicated to spearing as many of them as possible. (The take is usually around 1K on a good year.)
Sturgeon aren’t endangered...unless they’re saying they are in Russia?
Why not use our Shovelnose species and invent a useful critter that is part Paddle, part Shovel?
