It’s far worse than I thought. In addition to the many links between the family that owns The New York Times and the Civil War Confederacy, new evidence shows that members of the extended family were slaveholders.

Last Sunday, I recounted that Bertha Levy Ochs, the mother of Times patriarch Adolph S. Ochs, supported the South and slavery. She was caught smuggling medicine to Confederates in a baby carriage and her brother Oscar joined the rebel army.

I have since learned that, according to a family history, Oscar Levy fought alongside two Mississippi cousins, meaning at least three members of Bertha’s family fought for secession.

Adolph Ochs’ own “Southern sympathies” were reflected in the content of the Chattanooga Times, the first newspaper he owned, and then The New York Times. The latter published an editorial in 1900 saying the Democratic Party, which Ochs supported, “may justly insist that the evils of negro suffrage were wantonly inflicted on them.”

The Royal African Company

Chartered by Charles II in 1672 and headed by his brother the Duke of York for more than two decades, the Royal African Company held a monopoly on trade with Africa which included gold, silver and slaves.

From 1680-86, the company transported an average of 5,000 slaves per year, most of which were shipped to colonies in the Caribbean and Virginia.

Thousands of slaves arrived in the New World with the company’s initials branded on their chests.

Why did I think it important to post this very short history of a company that probably few have ever heard of?

New York!

Since the Virtue Signalers are demanding that everything that is offensive to blacks be torn down or renamed .. why not start with New York?

After all, New York was named after the great Trader of African Slaves, the head of The Royal African Company ... King James II, also known as the Duke of York.

President Lincoln freed the slaves in what was called the Confederate States of America.

Sometime later, after Lincoln’s death, slaves all over the United States were freed.

I keep trying to tell everybody, whether it be:

- Slave trading which carried on illegally on a large scale well into the mid 19th century

- slavery itself

- slave trading profits which provided the seed capital for the Ivy League as well as a lot of big businesses - yes, including many that are around still today

- profiteering off of slavery via shipping, warehousing, insuring, banking, etc all the support industries for the trade in goods produced at least in part, by slavery

The North was implicated up to its eyeballs in slavery. It was never a Southern issue as Yankees have tried to pretend for the last 175 years. It was always a national issue.
