Hydroxychloroquine Helps Contain COVID-19 Cases: New Evidence and a Major Retraction

Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) — the controversial COVID-19 treatment touted by President Donald Trump — might be gaining new traction in the fight against the Wuhan coronavirus.

The latest positive results come from Vadodara, India, where city officials have conducted a major study involving more than 300,000 people, including “health workers and other frontline staff.”

The Indian Express reports:

The administration has analysed a sample of over 1 lakh [lakh = 100,000] residents, who were mostly close contacts of positive persons and the effect of HCQ in containing the transmission of the virus. According to the analysis, of the 48,873 close contacts of positive patients who took one dose of HCQ, 102 turned Covid-19 positive and 12 succumbed to the infection whereas 48 of the 17,776 close contacts of positive patients who took two doses of HCQ turned positive and only one died. The study also states that of the 33,563 close contacts of patients who took three HCQ doses, 43 tested positive and one died.

Local health official Dr. Devesh Patel told the paper, “It has shown positive results. We have the numbers and not one person has complained of complications. The only side effect reported is mild gastritis, which is common with administering heavy medicines and can be effectively handled.”

In other words, anyone who has taken the much more common azithromycin antibiotic for a simple sinus infection has probably suffered about the same distress — all gastric — as a subject of the Vadodara study.

Dr. Mohammad Hussain, who runs Vadodara’s Faith Hospital, told the Express, “There are conflicting studies about the use of HCQ. While initially the US studies rejected it and cited side-effects, European countries backed its prophylactic use. In Vadodara, it has shown positive results.

RE: Hydroxychloroquine/zithromax/zinc seems to work best when the treatment is instituted as soon as a person develops fever and cough. If treatment is delayed until test results return or when the patient has developed shortness of breath and pnemonitis, it is less likely to be effective.

I am re-posting an excellent and informative post made by another astute and well-informed FReeper.

Using HCQ early is analogous to putting out a frying pan fire. If you’ve got burning grease in a frying pan, dumping a box of baking soda on it will put it out cheaply, safely, completely and almost instantly.

However if you’ve got a whole kitchen on fire, baking soda will be useless.

The four stages of COVID-19 infection are:

* Primary Viremia
* Secondary Viremia
* SARS/Pneumonia and
* Cytokine Storm/Septic Shock/Death.

HCQ works in the Primary Viremia stage, when the virus is in your nose and throat and just beginning to get into the bloodstream. You must apply HCQ + Azithromycin + Zinc as soon as a positive diagnosis is established and symptoms appear ( within 5 days of such observation as per Dr. Vladimir Zelenko ).

HCQ might provide some benefit in Secondary Viremia, when the virus has traveled via the bloodstream and just begun to invade the lungs, though you’ve got to catch it quick.

After your immune system goes into hyper-inflammatory mode and starts destroying lung tissue, HCQ will do little or nothing.

Nobody who pioneered the use of HCQ (e.g. Zelenko and Raoult) ever said it was for critical ill people. And certainly not people who’ve been intubated. That’s way too late. (Putting baking soda on a house afire.) Those who used it on desperately sick people (e.g. the Veterans Administration Study) were killing them with overdose and over-venting.

This makes Dr. Fauci responsible for the deaths of many people with his negative statements about HCQ.

When this is over, the Democrat governors must be held accountable for their bizarre decrees that have restricted the timely prescription of hydroxychoroquine by practicing physicians.

It would appear that if all nursing home residents in New York and New Jersey were given Hydroxychloroquine/zithromax/zinc prophylactically the death toll would have been a small fraction of the current number. Can you say class action lawsuit.

Fauxi knew hydroxyxhloroquine could both cure and prevent corona viruses in 2005.  Passive aggressive on HCQ in 2020.  Intentional?
