On June 11, the band announced it was dropping the name Antebellum from its name after reflecting on the Black Lives Matter movement and in an effort to be more inclusive. Attorneys for Lady A, formerly known as Lady Antebellum, have filed a suit against blues singer Anita White who goes by the name Lady A.

Given that anyone can submit online for a registered trademark with the USPTO without a lawyer there is really no excuse not to do it anymore.
The REAL “Lady A” has a fool for a lawyer, apparently. As opposed to the FAKE “Lady A”, who are just fools.
Of course, there will be two winners in this suit. The plaintiff’s lawyer and the defendant’s lawyer.
First Aunt Jemima, now Aunty Bellum.
Just change it to Lady Ant. She could start wearing antennae onstage and everything..
Scumbags.
Almost as bad as when McDonalds sued a 200 year old restaurant in Scotland named MacDonalds for infringement (and won).
If she can prove continuing use and that she began using it before they trademarked it, she may well have a pretty good case. They also will have to overcome their public statements three weeks ago thanking her for her graciousness and letting them also use the name. Scum.
Why not just change their name to the Lady A Holes
I think Transgender A is available.
Why not change their name to Auntie Jemima. Problem solved.
Lady A better change her name to Anita Black lol
Shouldna changed your name. No one cared until suddenly “everyone” did. Manufactured outrage.
I’m not even sure it was that good of an idea to change it to Lady A anyway, why not come up with a completely different name that doesn’t remind everyone of the controversial name that they just abandoned? I can imagine a new fan, unfamiliar with the previous name, asking them “what does the A stand for?” “Well...um...Antebellum...but we don’t want to talk about that...”
Lady Antebellum registered the trademark in 2011.

The black singer is claiming common law rights to the mark based on prior use.
The article states that the band applied for and was granted the trademark for Lady A back in 2010, as there was no objections to the application. Ms. White asked for $10,000,000 and the ability to continue using the name while publicly saying the band infringed upon her right to the name. Trademarks and copyrights are meant to protect owners from others, but you have to be the first to apply. From the band’s statements, it looks like they were genuinely trying to work with Ms. White until she asked for $10M while leaving the opportunity to sue for infringement. The band is asking only for the ability to legally use the name that they own the trademark of while allowing Ms. White to use the name, too. That isn’t unreasonable.
Now they are oppressing A. White.
Dude on the right has a serious “Cro-Magnon” look. That is all.
Lady Annabelle
How hard is that???
"... having to meet a publishing deadline, copied the information off the back of a packet of breakfast cereal, hastily embroidering it with a few footnotes in order to avoid prosecution under the incomprehensibly tortuous Galactic Copyright laws.
It is interesting to note that a later and wilier editor sent the book backward in time through a temporal warp, and then successfully sued the breakfast cereal company for infringement of the same laws."
