Right, because if you wanted to control various system preferences, you wouldn't think to look for something called "Control Panel", that's just so 90's.

How to enter God Mode [sic] in Windows 10
  1. Make sure your Microsoft system account has administrator privileges.
  2. Right-click on the Windows 10 desktop and “Create a new folder.”
  3. Right-click the the new folder and rename the folder: “GodMode. {ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}” press enter and you're all set!
(the curly brackets and the crud between them is all that's necessary. Once it's been created, rename it whatever)

10’s “Settings” sucks - it’s slower to load than CP, it looks like an autistic person designed the layout, and it’s missing basic functionality.

I’m slowly working on transitioning to Linux.

I always thought that such meaningless, mindless changes were done by some senior VP newly-appointed who wished to prove his mettle and worth of the high salary. However such things appear to be as absurd as putting the gas pedal on the left instead of the right.

I’m thankful every day that I stuck with Windows 7. The only part that sucks is when you report a problem to someone and you tell them you are using Windows 7, they have the easy excuse of saying that Windows 7 is no longer supported and they can’t replicate the error. Doesn’t happen often, though.

I’ll gladly keep my Control Panel, thank you. And I turned off Windows Update long before it was popular.

Windows 7 was good. Windows 8 sucked the big one and still does. Can’t find half the commands I need.

Now W10. Supposed to be a better version of W8 but this sounds like it is a regressive POS.

Break up Big Tech into tiny really competitive pieces and let them make something the user really wants, not the shit that they think they want.

Great. We do systems testing, need to make all sorts of configuration changes, and document it so others can pick up the procedures if necessary.

Why not make changes willy nilly to suppress even more owner controls?

What ever happened to, PC or “Personal Computer”? These idiots should never have been given perpetual control over something that’s allegedly, “Personal”.

I know this won't be a popular opinion, but I don't care about Control Panel much anymore; PowerShell is much more powerful. Simply open a PowerShell window on any machine and type out the console executable required:

If you type gcm *.msc in PowerShell, you'll get all of the local Microsoft Consoles (MSCs).

For "Control Panels," type gcm *.cpl to get a listing of all of the common Control Panels still available in the OS.

Remember that Microsoft's new methodology is app-based, much like Macs. Everything you're using on a Windows 10 machine is transitioning to app-based functionality. The old way of doing things in XP and Win7 was to bolt everything directly into the kernel. This exposed the core of the OS to bad actors or just accidental screw ups from people poking around. With app-based functionality, the kernel is exposed through very specific APIs. This closes a lot of security holes that were prevalent in previous versions of Windows.

YMMV.

Been using “Settings” for the 4 years or so I’ve been using Win10 - not too difficult to figure out that “Settings” means you can change settings there.
