This season's WNBA players hope that before you chant their names, you'll remember the victims of police and racial violence too.
WNBA stars Layshia Clarendon, Breanna Stewart and A'ja Wilson will be wearing special uniforms designed to honor women who the league says "have been the forgotten victims of police brutality and racial violence" when the league's 2020 season tips off later this month.

A’ja Wilson
my mom almost named me a’ja
Changed her mind at the last minute.
And anything i would type from here on out would get me suspended for a year so ciao everyone.
but those of you who know me can read my mind
should be obvious by now that sports team owners have been given marching orders to be part of the divisive racial wedge the enemies of the USA are attempting to use on all of us
Th Epstien-Maxwell files must be pretty comprehensive
No one watches fugly bulldykes with a ball anyway.
So no one will notice.
How many women have been killed by police compared to black women killed by black thugs in the hood?

The result will be MASSIVE audience losses. They can blame thus year on COVID. Next year the chickens come home to roost by leaving the roost - en masse.
My V-chip blocks all WNBA.
Its the WNBA; is there an audience to lose? Serious question.
They could honor the black women who have been murdered by their boyfriends, baby daddies, and pimps, but you’d need the whole Boston Marathon for all the names.
OK,fair enough...but I won’t be watching.Not for a single second.
See my #4 upthread :)
WNBA still exists?
Perhaps the only “professional” sports league I have not bothered ever to watch.
Exactly how many women and girls were lost to police brutality?
Thanks; as I understand it, they only exist because they are subsidized by the NBA revenues. The women playing soccer professionally are on their third league since 2001 because there are no revenues to siphon from the men’s league.
They should wear jerseys with the names of domestic violence victims.

Maybe POLICE should stop providing ‘security’ for outfits that are protesting them?
Why would anyone name their kid after a 1977 Steely Dan album?
Don Imus, why have you left us in our hour of greatest need? Those N-H-H’s are at it again.

How many ‘commemorative’ nation wide services/exhibitions etc have been held in honor of the BLACK LADIES that were gunned down while holding vigils in known drug distribution areas?
These clowns (purposely??) pick thugs to memorialize, think how many ‘others’ would back them if they were to be ‘honoring’ the woman killed by the no knock raid, the woman killed by a cop ‘checking out her back yard’ and she ‘surprised’ him by turning on a light ‘investigating’ a noise, the ladies killed by the thugs above, the kids gunned down in the street......
(I realize they did ‘something’ for the ‘no knock’ but it was an addendum to the anti police actions..MAYBE that should have been the ‘lead’)
I think a good part of ‘honoring’ the Trayvon Martins etal is to get US so made that we will ‘intervene’ in a forceful manner.
In a sense we are somewhat being held ‘hostage’ by 13% of our population.
MAYBE someone should school them on what happened in Africa when 13% of the population ran roughshod over the other 87%....
