A car drove onto a closed freeway early Saturday and struck two people in a crowd protesting against police brutality, killing one and critically injuring the other, authorities said.
Summer Taylor, 24, of Seattle died in the evening at Harborview Medical Center, spokesperson Susan Gregg said.

Dawit Kelete of Seattle drove the car around vehicles that were blocking I-5 and sped into the crowd about 1:40 a.m., according to a police report released by the Washington State Patrol. Video taken at the scene by protesters showed people shouting “Car! Car!” before fleeing the roadway.
Love is in serious condition in the intensive care unit, Harborview, Gregg said.
Love was filming the protest in a nearly two-hour-long Facebook livestream captioned “Black Femme March takes I-5” when the video ended abruptly; with about 15 seconds left, shouts of “Car!” can be heard as the camera starts to shake before screeching tires and the sound of impact are heard.

The driver, who was alone, fled the scene after hitting the protesters, Trooper Chase Van Cleave told The Associated Press. One of the other protesters got in a car and chased the driver for about a mile. He was able to stop him by pulling his car in front of the Jaguar, Van Cleave said.
Troopers arrived, and the driver was put in custody, Washington State Patrol Capt. Ron Mead said.
Kelete was described by offices as reserved and sullen when he was arrested, according to court documents. He also asked if the pedestrians were OK, the documents say.

The girls chose to live in their world, not the parent’s world. The parents can’t be blamed and feeling sorry for them is a waste of time. They have been numb for a while so the shock of their daughters’ being killed and injured is not much at all. The girls highlighted their stupidity by marking their bodies withe ink, in your face ink.

The police did have the freeway closed both ways. Onramps were blocked. The driver entered the freeway by an offramp.
Where there any safety cones, reflective signs, emergency lights, flashers or any other safety equipment indicating that there where parked vehicles blocking the lanes with pedestrians standing about?
If not who is to blame for the lack of safety precautions?
What if the driver has hit one of the parked cars and got himself injured or killed?

Sounds like he may have gotten naturally impatient with a stalled line of cars on the on-ramp , and decided to drive around them, not knowing there were people standing in the highway up ahead.
When you stand or walk on the freeway, you are taking a risk since freeways are for cars not pedestrians
If that driver had stopped at the row of vans they would have beat the guy with bricks and destroyed his car. They put the guy in a lose lose situation. BTW who is paying for all the white vans?

Hey Folks,
No reason to get excited here. This is not an echo chamber of intolerance like the left maintains. There’s space for respectful dissent and differing opinions like has been demonstrated in other posts. In those posts are found examples where two adults express differing opinions respectfully. We can let those posts stand, both views expressed for readers to decide for themselves. No reason to act like children spitting absolutes and popping blood vessels. Remember, sometimes it’s better to be kind than to be right. So Lets keep the friendly fire to a minimum and direct anger and righteous indignation to the other side.
That being said, I just think that someone needs to be held responsible for this incident. There’s plenty of space here to have that discussion without getting wrapped around the pedantic. Save the anger and indignation for the ones who instigated these kids (arguably) to stand around in the road like morons. I just cant believe there’s not more people who feel the same.
Probably shouldn't ask this, but, what happened to the guy? If you don't want to say, that's ok.
