Students in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 have been attending parties in the city and surrounding area as part of a disturbing contest to see who can catch the virus first, a city council member told ABC News on Wednesday. Tuscaloosa City Councilor Sonya McKinstry said students have been organizing "COVID parties" as a game to intentionally infect each other with the contagion that has killed more than 127,000 people in the United States. She said she recently learned of the behavior and informed the city council of the parties occurring in the city.

I was all over Florida for 2 weeks in late January. Large wedding with people from all over the country, several from NY and CA.

Almost a dozen different hotels, 3 days in Key West around the cruise ship passengers and many many elevator rides with Asians

Got home with a cough so bad I threw my back out while coughing as I was getting out of bed,

THAT took me almost 2 months to get right again

Obviously missing a huge opportunity there, but would rather have an engineering degree. Go figure!

I looked it up. 2001 is when they inducted their first class.

Wonder how many of these kids will go visit grandma and grandpa the day after they go to one of these parties and not think anything of it. I seriously doubt they’re going to isolate themselves after these parties. Kids this age are almost never responsible people.

They aren’t stupid. They are smart. These students know the virulence of this pathogen is about as low as it gets. They smell BS and are calling out the Emperor wearing no clothes.

Conservative coaches like Dabo Swinney at Clemson weren’t afraid of COVID and imho beat the competition with a virtual herd immunity. It’s an obvious smart play if you understand the miniscule risks for healthy young athletes.

Indications are immunity will keep them COVID - free for several months, if not forever.

I’ve been touting this theory for a week, and I see broadcaster Boomer Esiason considered it as perhaps intentional.

” I seriously doubt they’re going to isolate themselves after these parties.”

As far as I’m concerned we still live in the USA. People do NOT need to isolate themselves for anything. I refuse to submit to becoming the land of the enslaved and home of the chickens.

No outrage over weeks of protestors not wearing masks or social distancing.

Believe I had covid 3rd week of December 2019. Worst flu, fever, and cough I can remember.

Yep it is done, and isn’t it funny, no matter what we tried, it’s run was similar to every other virus humanity has ever faced? Maybe prolonged a bit (thanks fear mongers forcing isolation) but in the end you will not stop nature.

Notice the 0-24 age group? Zero deaths. This is why shutting down schools was the biggest mistake in a long line of mistakes. They are your prime movers towards immunity.

But this was never about the virus. This was about never letting a crisis go to waste, or in this case, take something non critical, turn it into a crisis, and not let that go to waste.

“No outrage over weeks of protestors not wearing masks or social distancing.”

Has anyone thought about how the many “protests” all over the country without much concern about a spike of COVID19 among the massive crowds mixed close together for weeks (at least in Seattle). Still haven’t heard of any “outbreak” or any cases at all. Well, thank you idiots from coast to coast. You have proved that we have been played. America seems to be awakening.

This is a solid concept. Worked for chicken pox.

Dont protect yourself because it’s what the Dems do. Protect yourself because this is a virus which originated in China and highly likely tampered within a lab. That’s what makes the potential for harm so much more insidious than “organic” diseases. Thank God it’s not as severe as Ebola or something.

“Believe I had covid 3rd week of December 2019. Worst flu, fever, and cough I can remember.”

So sorry you had to go through that. The whole county around me was rife with covid through Dec and Jan. No cases since the quarantine. I know a LOT of people in my county and I was getting calls and reports from all over claiming to have the Flu, in spite of Vaccines, and that it was the worst ever. So it was going through this county and nobody had yet heard of covid19. I guess I am in the subject to die group. I was all over the county visiting and didn’t catch it. I have never had the Flu or the Vaccine. Did have all the childhood diseases and have an iron-clad immune system.

I don’t think they planned on self isolating - they knowingly had people at the parties who were positive. I think it would be beneficial to the vulnerable if these students recruited even more partiers and they tested positive too. It is far less lethal than the flu for them. As for your concern for the vulnerable getting exposed by them - they need to take their own precautions. I believe in liberty over collective health.

Would you feel the same if instead of an infection fatality rate of <1%, the fatality rate were, say, 90%? In other words, if there were a 90% chance that anyone you infected would die and you had reason to believe you were infected, would you care at all how many people you spread it to? Or would you self-isolate in that case?
