Human remains were found Tuesday during the search for a missing soldier stationed at Fort Hood in Texas, Army officials told CNN.
Vanessa Guillen, 20, has been missing since April. She was last seen in the parking lot of her barracks at the post on April 22, according to the US Army Criminal Investigation Command.
Investigators had "returned to an area of interest close to the Leon River, Bell County, Texas, for more investigative work" and discovered partial human remains, the Army CID said.
Authorities said the identity of the remains have not been confirmed.
The remains were found in a shallow grave and search operations have been suspended, pending identification, Tim Miller, the director and founder of Texas EquuSearch, told CNN.
Miller said the discovery was made approximately 26 miles from the site where earlier in June authorities found the remains of Gregory Wedel-Morales, a soldier who went missing last year while driving his car in Killeen.
Before Guillen went missing, she had told her family that she was being sexually harassed by one of her sergeants at Fort Hood, according to the website her family set up to promote the search. She did not identify the sergeant.
Guillen, a private first class, was last seen wearing a black T-shirt and purple fitness-type pants, according to the Army CID. Her car keys, room key, identification card and wallet were later found in the armory room where she was working earlier that day.
Guillen is described as 5 feet 2 inches, 126 pounds with black hair and brown eyes, according to the Army CID statement.

These two disappearance homicides are not unique at Hood, I have been told.
This picture has been reversed for some reason.

I lived in Harker Heights a few miles away. The Water System I worked at had a 1,000,000 Gallon Storage Tank on top of Rattlesnake Mountain that is in one of the Tank Training area. There are Signs Posted on the County Roads that say "Tank Crossing"
And all the crossings are Blind Spot due to Brush, Rocks and Trees. The crossing on the County Road were textured by Tank Treads.
It is a big post, about 100,000 Soldiers, civilian employees, contractors, and family members.
So crime is not unexpected, but for two soldiers to disappear and be found dead under suspicious circumstances is very unusual.
Stuff like this enrages me. Soldiering is tough enough without crime and personal bull-—t.
I was on a court martial panel (at Hood) for an Sergeant who sexually assaulted a new Private fresh out of AIT. I wish we could have had him executed, rape and sexual assault are bad, betraying your soldiers is worse. Nothing burns my craw like an NCO (I was one, back before I was commissioned) who sets aside his responsibility to his Soldiers for personal gratification.

My local talking heads just read a short report that CID served a warrant at 0130 and that person killed himself.
When I was on active duty in the Amy JAG, it was typical for a female recruit who reported rape to be accused of being gay. Very dysfunctional.
Hopefully he had a poor aim, and he suffered for quite some time. (If they were indeed the perp.)
Talking Heads said they normally do not report suicides, but it was related to something.
Ft Hood is the largest military base in the free world. The impact area is quite large. You could hide a lot of bodies out there.
Saves a trial and the cost of years of imprisonment. That's why I've said that every holding cell should be equipped with a noose and a step stool. Gives the perp freedom of CHOICE, the RAT party gold standard.
I have not heard the talking heads state anything since my post.
Robinson's girlfriend was also arrested.
