So crime is not unexpected, but for two soldiers to disappear and be found dead under suspicious circumstances is very unusual.
Stuff like this enrages me. Soldiering is tough enough without crime and personal bull-—t.
I was on a court martial panel (at Hood) for an Sergeant who sexually assaulted a new Private fresh out of AIT. I wish we could have had him executed, rape and sexual assault are bad, betraying your soldiers is worse. Nothing burns my craw like an NCO (I was one, back before I was commissioned) who sets aside his responsibility to his Soldiers for personal gratification.

When I was on active duty in the Amy JAG, it was typical for a female recruit who reported rape to be accused of being gay. Very dysfunctional.
