She sustained multiple goring wounds and was treated by rangers before being flown to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center for further treatment.
The news release said the woman approached the bison several times near her campsite at Bridge Bay Campground in northwest Wyoming before the bison charged.
The attack serves as a reminder that wildlife in Yellowstone National Park are wild, the release said.
Park visitors must stay 25 yards away from all large animals in the park including bison, elk, bighorn sheep, deer, moose and coyotes, the release said. If people encounter bears and wolves they should stay 100 yards away.

Was this Ruth Bader Ginsburg? Because I’m pretty sure she’ll bounce back from this with no trouble.

Uh, yeah, buffalo will kill ya. Had a buddy that got badly mauled by one a few years back outside of Salt Lake City. Spent some time in the hospital recovering.

They should put a warning label on those bison in 8pt font that says ‘warning, if you can read this, you likely were gored by this animal.’

Great quote.
I was close to one, but on a raised and fenced platform.
They are huge. Rhinos are monsters too.

I blame the Disneyfication of America along with liberal inability to recognize reality. There are so many morons who think animals are “just like people” because they watched too much Disney crap.

Nonsense. Bison, Grizzly Bear, and Mountain Lions are perfectly safe to be around if you gently rub them between the ears and sing "Imagine" to them.
That's what I tell my liberal friends, anyway.
To: BenLurkin
Oh, come on. The worst they will do is steal your picnic basket.
To: BenLurkin
One would think a 72 old woman would know not approach a bison several times...
I betcha she was a surprised the bison did not act like her kitty cat....
