Eeeeek! having nearly walked right into one that was hanging at FACE LEVEL while touring an Arboretum, I think I’ll pass, LOL!
This is the time of year I start filling up a basket with crocheted kitchen dish rags; I take the basket with me to family gathering over Christmas and anyone that needs a few can take a few. It's a good way to use up cotton yarn scraps, doesn't make you HOT working on them, and I am now, 'The Crazy Dish Rag Lady' in the family, LOL! (The basket always comes home empty!)
22 Weeks Until Christmas! Are you working on or planning to give knit or crochet or sewn gifts this Christmas? I started my cotton kitchen dish cloths a few weeks ago; I have a big basket to fill and I take it with me to family gatherings and let people take what they need.
I don’t plan on participating in this Make-Along, but there were good links to gift ideas and patterns and stocking stuffer events (small projects), too. Enjoy!
Christmas Stocking Make-Along:
My SIL tells me she loves the fingerless mittems I make so I might have a basket of mittens - got a lot I started last year & all that needs to be done is put on the thumbs (knitted).
Also, an idea I’ve never ‘made good’ on is making tatted snowflakes. I have done needle tatting; however, the patterns I have are for shuttle tatting so there’s a pretty good learning curve to overcome. A friend of mine does crocheted snowflakes every year - picks a pattern & makes it for everyone - I have quite the collection many years later. She does a really good job with them.
The mittens are more likely than the snowflakes and even more likely to happen for Christmas giving is Blackberry Merlot & Jalapeno Pepper Jelly, perhaps some Salsa. These are the 3 most popular/requested items I make.
The shawl is beautiful. Haven’t crocheted in about 40 years.

I took it up in the shoulders, as she is short. Then shortened the front by 6 inches. This involved painstakingly taking off (stitch by stitch) all of the lace at the bottom, plus six of the lace appliques, then shortening 3 layers, and putting the lace along the hem back on (painstakingly), and deciding to also put 2 of the appliques back on. This all took MANY, MANY hours, and I could have sewn her a perfectly lovely dress from scratch! I also added some tiny lace by hand down each side of the buttons on the back, from the upper back, down to where the nude mesh ended, which stabilized that area (as well as improved the appearance, IMO). I finished the dress on the 4th of July, and the wedding was on the 11th.
I also made the veil, which also involved plenty of lace hand sewing. It was all worth it, in the end, though, because she was radiant and beautiful. The wedding had been postponed from 5/23 to 7/11, and ended up being “mostly” what they originally planned, albeit with fewer people.
I also made 21 voile table squares, just to spruce up the decorating and add color, and because I had tons of this plum voile left over from making my jacket for the wedding. I didn’t get to wear the jacket, due to it was hot.
This weekend, I am going to work on sewing masks for my 2 granddaughters, for “back to school”. The current plan is for school to start up, full time, 5 days/week, but they will need to wear masks. My daughter-in-law brought me about 15 fabric cuts, and I think I have the pattern figured out, to match the style of the sample that the oldest granddaughter prefers. I am looking forward to this, and then moving to some more sewing for myself. I really need more tops for work, as we have been mostly wearing jeans all of 2020.
Do you sew? Is the sheath dress a solid color or pattern?
I made a sheer (voile) jacket to wear with my mother-of-the-bride dress. I used pattern Butterick 5719. I used French seams, and then turned the edges to the outside, pressed an edge under, and topstitched for the hem, sleeve hems, and around the neckline and front opening. I had trouble finding the right fabric for this project, and actually bought it here: https://www.cvlinens.com/
I was extremely happy with the quality and value on the fabric.
My vision was for something sheer and “floaty”, which I achieved, but then didn’t get to wear it, due to the day was SO hot, after having the wedding postponed from May to July.
I used to sew as a teenager (many decades ago),but it’s been so long, I don’t think I’d remember much, plus the machine I used (no longer have it) was very simple to operate.
The sheath dress is a solid color & not really the most appropriate color for a wedding, so after further ‘consideration’, I ordered a dress from Amazon & got it a few days ago - much better color (mauve - my favorite) & I do not need a shrug with it. The dress is a bit “floaty” itself and should be super comfortable - short sleeves (yes, I do have the arms for short sleeves - farm work biceps!) so it will be cool enough, even if the weather is very hot. If it miraculously gets cool (highly unlikely), I have a beautiful silver gray, lightweight pashmina shawl I can use for some warmth. I’m excited about the outfit - inherited some jewelry recently that will look really good with the dress.

This pineapple Shawl pattern isn’t available in all the places I’ve searched. I found a “two-pineapple” section, but it was so small and didn’t give stitch amounts, that I just set it aside to be brought out on a day when my brain was working better.
Now, however, my sister sent me out some yarn that she spun years ago but doesn’t recall where she was when she did it. So I’m filling a few days by winding it into balls. Anyway, I have the honor of having some beautiful wool yarns to play with!
I knit some masks from Patons Stretch Socks yarn. They only stop dirtly luoks, but they are comfy and better fitting than cloth. Then I started making socks after I got tired of masks. Almost done with the third pair.
Also making an afghan for youngest married daughter in shades of silver, gray and black yarns in various textures, ribbon, eyelash and whatever.
I have a ribbon sweater on the needles also, but realized I needed to down size to 11’s but the afghan is on them, so gotta finish one before I restart the other.
Also have a a crochet top going. The kind where it’s all one motif that you crochet together as you go. I get bored after two or three, so I have it on the dressmaker dummy in the corner to remind me to do a couple now and then.

The pattern diagram only shows 2 pineapples, but your starting chain is 394, obviously more than 2 pineapples so you just keep repeating across until you get to the last couple of stitches & work the edge. The shawl is worked lengthwise, but you could work it vertically with fewer pineapples across & more stacked on each other. The multiples for this are sets of 15 so you can add or decrease pineapples.

The first link you posted isn’t the same link for the shawl pattern. I have that particular pattern and will probably make it! But thanks for researching.
I DO appreciate the starting chain amount!! I can make the shawl with that information, but I have no way to enlarge the pattern. I may try taking it down to the local library to see if they can enlarge it, and then go from there.
Anyway, just knowing the starting chain amount is enough to help me enormously. I consider myself an “expert” but I’m not, really, because I don’t know where to go for all the information I need. So I join things like this thread!
