NEW YORK (AP) — Carl Reiner, the ingenious and versatile writer, actor and director who broke through as a “second banana” to Sid Caesar and rose to comedy’s front ranks as creator of “The Dick Van Dyke Show” and straight man to Mel Brooks’ “2000 Year Old Man,” has died. He was 98.
Reiner’s assistant Judy Nagy said he died Monday night of natural causes his home in Beverly Hills, California, of natural causes.

To me, he'll always be just the guy that spawned The Meathead. It shows how one slip up or misjudgement can ruin your whole legacy.

The thing that always struck me about Carl Reiner is that he carried himself as if everyone adored Carl Riner and that the rest of us considered him a national treasure.
And that would be a huge overstatement.
Dick Van Dyke is one of my all time favourite shows, even though I first watched it as a twelve year old kid in the early 1980s.
Also liked the movies “All of Me” and “Summer Rental”.

Yes, indeed. It’s not easy forgive evil. But Reiner was, of course, not an evil person. He just held some very wrong ideas. For me anyway, that’s easy to forgive.
And through his film work he brought joy to many, many people. RIP Mr. Reiner.
Sorry he was a pro abortion Democrat who did much to destroy the culture of America while becoming incredibly wealthy in the process.

Speaking to the issue of Carl and his son and their disgusting political views, I’ve had this argument with one of my 2 conservative friends. If I only watched movies and comedy as acted by conservatives, I would not find anything to watch. His like do make it hard, however.
Come to think of it, zero TV - might be a good plan.
