Do what, set up Congress’ own streaming video site? Since when did conservatives believe that Government should regulate the internet?

When? When Congress gave them protection as a neutral carrier, not as an editor/publisher. When they decide to censor content, especially political speech, they became a publisher. And like a newspaper, they must now be responsible for every word they publish.
They need to be open to content based litigation.

Is your “conservative” opinion that they should be granted special legal protection not available to all other broadcasters and publishers?

Since Big Tech became an arm of the Democrat party and interfere in our elections. Turning the other cheek only emboldens these fascists.

Yes, Alter, exactly. Clamoring for congress to put up a video site. The OP never even hinted, but you detected that was her intent. Insightful analysis.

The Government should stay out of private company business. But a company can become so big - and so influential - that it essentially becomes a monopoly. Then the Government should consider regulating it. Is YouTube essentially a monopoly?

If someone said yes, I’d be in no mood to disagree. Same goes for Twitter.

We will Constitutionally become mute before October with no presence on social media and most of the servers hosting conservative sites being disabled. With mail-in voting becoming the rule in states with Democrat governors and Republican Trump majorities and the Democrat ruled cities manufacturing millions of votes in almost every state and with nothing being heard from Republicans at all Trump could well “lose” 49 states.

We bought, built and provided special protection for these companies. They are not some natural result of “geniuses” and the free market.

Not regulate. Prevent regulation. Censorship needs to be hammered hard with government power. I would rather see all tech companies burned to the ground then allowed to control speech in America.

It’s time to break up Google. It’s too big and it’s harming the public interest; antitrust laws exist for a reason, they just need to be exercised.

Also regulation is obviously just fine. When federal money, student loans, etc are given to universities they must comply with a raft of title 9 and EEOC law.

Or talk anyone in the defense industry what kind of very intrusive Federal rules come with Defense contracts.

Google, Facebook, Microsoft, Amazon all do massive business with the government. It would be well within the law to make them adopt a neutral policy for politics in return for Federal contracts.
