My garden in both NY and NH are doing well.
I was concerned because of the hot dry spell as we weren’t in NH to water. I figured that I’d come back to a desert wasteland. But everything survived!!!!
Even some seeds I had planted that I had given up on made it.
Question......
I planted some onion sets and a bunch of them are flowering. Does that mean I won’t be getting a good onion harvest from those plants? I absolutely plan on saving the seeds and starting them indoors next year and then transplanting the seedlings as opposed to doing the onion sets.
My potatoes are also flowering. Should those be pinched off?
A friend of mine got a software program for his phone. It ID’s plants, gives details, how to grow, where, how to kill (if weed), etc. Amazing! I had him prove it’s ability by identifying lots of wild plants. Didn’t miss a one. Like facial identification software I guess. It identified one that I didn’t know, that has lots of positive points. Amazing how it just appeared (and I didn’t pull it for a bad weed)...birds must have brought it in.
This is my first year trying container gardening. So far, I’m very pleased. I have tomatoes, peppers, and sugar snap peas coming in.
We got a bit of rainfall last week here in Central Missouri, but for the most part it has been hot and dry.
Tomato plants are growing well and putting on a lot of blossoms. The black cherry tomatoes are already setting fruit.
Garlic is ready for harvest. Kale and collards are rocking. Cucumber plants are blooming. Cabbages were picked yesterday morning. We’re going to make another attempt at sauerkraut.
Finally got the pole bean seeds into the ground.
The new bait pond is already half full of water, and the wheat/fescue/clover I planted on the berm is sprouted and growing nicely. I’m going to start tossing fathead and shiner minnows, small bluegill, and crayfish into it this week. I’d rather wait until it was full up, but I don’t want the skeeters to get a head start.
I ordered those seeds you told us about. Arrived within a week of placing order. Several seeds have been sowed. Just waiting for them to sprout.
