Good idea, but i’d be armed or a no show. And a no show if im just supposted to stand by and guard the rioters.

Again, the idea is to station law abiding citizens in places where vandalism is likely to occur so they may deter the less well-organized elements.
Vetting and training would be a part of it. I would enjoy being able, legally, to tag these miscreants with pepper balls if they so much as touch a piece of public property with intent to damage, but I need to do that with authority backing me up.
