I do B12 shots monthly for 5 years still Tinnitus.
So nope
....not to mention the Bose sound system in the car...
Heh.
I started out in the Marines as an assaultman (0351).
Rifle ranges, firing the LAW Rocket, demo ranges, and mostly just used to ol’ quick fix of cigarette filters in my ear holes for noise protection.
I have no issues with my hearing, except when watching TV or talking to people.
Certain medications can cause tinnitus as well. I’ve had it for ages, and periodically I get the sound of crystal wind chimes tinkling as well. It’s never really bothered me, and doesn’t keep me from sleeping. I’ve run a fan at night in my room for at least 20 years. I worked 3-11 p.m., and sometimes 11 p.m -7 a.m. before I retired, and I had an elderly neighbor downstairs whose druggie son would come over in the middle of the night, knock loudly on her door, and then beg her for money. They tended to get loud, but having the fan on drowned it all out. He finally drove her to the grave, and there was peace at last.
Yep...all of the above. When I was in third grade, I brought a sledge hammer down on an entire roll of toy gun caps...my ears rang for a day. That was my first hearing abuse.
Can Am car races, too many rock concerts (near front row) to count, lawn mower with no muffler, homemade explosives, power plants (try setting safety valves with no hearing protection or working on coal pulverizers). I blew up a Schwinn 26 inch bicycle tire by accident when filling it at the gas station. Wood shop and metal shop. Factory floors. You name it, I did it to abuse my hearing.
Turns out I DO have a Vitamin B-12 deficiency, but got it corrected with a daily supplement. Too bad it didn’t fix the tinnitus, too.
Thank Goodness that the Sony Walkman was invented too late for me or I’d probably be stone cold deaf by now.
I blame Blue Oyster Cult. But Zeppelin, Zappa, Yes, ELP, etc may have contributed just a bit.
L
The Yes concert did it for me.:)
Yep, B12 is not my problem either. Years of working in high noise environments while in college (sawmills). Loud music made its contribution of course, but 10 hours a day running saws probably is the worst culprit.
My bloodwork shows I’m in good shape for B12 and folic acid.
I told my wife, if there’s one thing positive I can look forward to with dying, it’s FINALLY getting peace and quiet. Shut the damn air raid sirens off.
