Report: 1,797,910 Firearms Sold in April 2020, a 71.3% Increase Over April 2019

(CNSNews) -- A report by Small Arms Analytics & Forecasting (SAAF) estimates that in April 2020 there were 1,797,910 gun sales, an increase of 71.3% over the April 2019 sales.

As the SAAF estimated, "April 2020 U.S. firearms unit sales [were] at 1,797,910 units, a year-over-year increase of 71.3% from April 2019. Likely single handgun sales (1,085,046) increased year-over-year by 83.1% whereas single long-gun sales (560,353) increased year-over-year by 51.7%."

"All other likely background check-related sales (152,512) increased year-over-year by 74.6%," said the SAAF. "This includes so-called 'multiple' sales where the allocation between handguns and long-guns cannot be determined from the data record."

“Once more, the spurt in firearms sales in April 2020 is particularly notable for its handgun component," said SAAF Chief Economist Jurgen Brauer. "The ratio of handguns to long-guns sold now stands at a new record of 1.94, breaking the previous high of 1.84 set just one month ago.”

The SAAF’s firearms unit sales estimates "are based on raw data taken from the FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS), adjusted for checks unlikely to be related to end-user firearms sales," states the organization. "For example, the FBI’s raw numbers (for April, some 2,878,176) cannot be taken at face value as large numbers of background checks are unrelated to end-user sales."

Probably 95% of those sales are NOT progs.

And they are throwing lit matches at a bucket full war-gas?

Again, prog is a mental illness.

That's because you can't shoot a long gun sideways...

So far the first silver lining from the riots is that Gun Grabbing has been dealt a massive - probably fatal - blow.

The second will be the backlash against the riots and the obvious ridiculous excesses of the cultural marxists in November.

My local gun store is out of everything. I’m back ordered on a home protection shotgun. Hopefully it will be in in the next couple of weeks. If you want a Remington or Mossberg, you are out of luck. Nobody has them.

They have no 9mm pistols, no semi automatic .45’s. They have some long rifles but no short barrel shotguns. They have lots of .22 rifles.

While I was ordering my shotgun, at least 3 new gun buying customers came in the store.

Virginia is getting a triple whammy. Covid fears, the race riots and the new anti-gun laws, expanded background checks and mandatory reporting lost or stolen firearms, go into effect July 1st.

Firearms are one thing; having the ammunition to feed them another.

I bought a Ruger in April.

Staff told me BG check would be done in 15 minutes. Waited and waited. Finally staff told me they would call me when it went through. Eventually 6 hours later and multiple crashes it finally went through and I went to pick it up.

They had no ammo for it which they told me upfront. Had to go to 3 different stores.

I’ve been looking to buy a Mossberg 590A1.

I picked a bad time to be looking for a bargain. I can’t even find and over-priced one!

People griping today about hardware and ammunition shortages obviously failed to learn from history. All ammo flavors have been abundant for years. Y’all shoulda stocked up then. Same with all varieties of bang sticks and semis.
