Coco Pops has been a much-loved breakfast staple for decades, with one of the most recognizable mascots in TV advertising.
But Coco the Monkey has come under suspicion from disgraced former Labour MP Fiona Onasanya, who has written to Kelloggs asking why they chose that animal to represent the chocolate-flavored cereal when Rice Krispies uses three white boys.
Ms. Onasanya, who was jailed for three months in January 2019 after she was convicted of lying to police about a speeding ticket, says that there is little difference between Coco Pops and sister brand Rice Krispies beyond their color and flavor. [ ]
Her comments caused Coco Pops to trend, with more than 1,500 posts made on the topic.
Several social media users criticized Ms. Onasanyas query, accusing her of being offended at everything.

The chocolate version of rice krispies is cocoa krispies.
The box has the same 3 white elves as rice krispies.
All the boxes of coco pops, a different cereal, have the monkey and I guess the other thing is a dog? Even the WHITE CHOCOLATE version.
Cocoa Puffs has a bird.
