A former casting producer for The Bachelor says that women wearing traditionally Black hairstyles like 'afros, braids, [or] locs' were considered 'too Black' to be contestants on the ABC dating show. Jazzy Collins called out the reality competition and its spin-offs for their lack of diversity via an open letter shared on social media Saturday. Collins, a Black woman, took the show to task, saying they 'only cast the token Black person, Asian person, or Latinx person to satisfy what you believe to be the needs of the viewers.'

Wouldn’t miss it if the show gets canceled.
They forgot to add those incredibly ugly really long nails !
Was it: If your brown, stick around. If your black, get back.??
I wouldn’t give a rat’s hindquarters if every one of the women looked like Christie Brinkley circa 1985.My IQ is greater than 70 and therefore I have absolutely no interest in the show.
Why in heaven’s name would anyone watch this stupid show.
If that sickening show is a casualty of this whole thing, then it will not have been a complete waste.
No, they just look like shit.
It’s still on the air?
Every show targets different demographics. Its a business, and it exists to maximize advertising revenue; that happens when the audience is large and also when its characteristics are well enough defined to be targeted.
I don’t watch family sitcoms (although I had a real weakness for Married With Children, and occasionally enjoyed the Jeffersons). And, I especially don’t watch gay or black family sitcoms. You aren’t going to change my viewing habits with symbolic token actors.
“were considered ‘too Black’”
Beside all they were interested in was the “bling bling”
Oh wait ..so were the white girls.
I would bet that some short white guy ala Danny davito had an equally zero chance of being selected. It is called audience appeal.
I was on television for an extended period of time once and one of the producers told me an odd factoid about the television and advertising industries which I thought was outright racist. Throughout those industries, the ad creators would never pair an African-American woman in an advertisement with an African-American guy when her skin was darker in tone than his. I thought this was crazy and couldn’t figure out how they could adopt such a crackpot approach but if you see commercials, this is often the case.
bkmk
Nappy headed ho’s, is what Imus said.
Maybe its because the audience doesnt want to see women with no sense of fashion.
Pretty, for whatever difference that makes.
I think they filter out the toxic, unstable, angry, bizarre personalities.
The freaks are a better fit for shows like “Big Brother”
They are complaining that this show is not trashy enough.
