When a kid I had one of these making me cooler than you... for life. I think about it often, lol. I didn't use the launch string, instead I kept the hose on full blast until the latches failed.

From the video, it appears that the parachute is deployed a bit too soon, before the rocket has had a chance to coast to full apogee.
