Local wildlife officials are searching for an alligator that bit a man directly in the face.
Largo Police Department spokesman Lt. Scott Gore told Creative Loafing Tampa Bay that Travis Spitzer was in waist-deep water at Taylor Lake on Friday, June 12, at around 5 a.m. looking for Frisbees when the gator bit him in the face.
He used his left hand to pry himself free and as a result had lacerations to his face and hand, said Gore. He was transported for medical care and is expected to recover. FWC is responding for the gator.
The incident comes as Florida is at the peak of alligator mating season, which often runs from May to July depending on temperatures. During this period, its not uncommon to see gators roaming around and being more active, says the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
But, do they have a description? Does the 'gator have any distinguishing features? Tattoos? Inquiring minds want to know.
Moving/fishing around the lake, we had to keep the trolling motor on high because of a few cotton mouths who kept following us trying to decide whether to get in the boat or not...
Then I hooked my spinner bait into some brush... Keeping a watchful eye on our nasty buddies, I maneuvered into the brush, reached down, unhooked my spinner bait from a log buried in the brush, and stomped the trolling mtr into reverse... It was then that the "log" I unhooked the spinner bait from let out a bellow...
We were out of Crescent Lake like a rocket shot...
Every puddle of water here in Florida is apt to have gator or two in it.
Hey, that would make for a good, schlocky SyFy Channel movie: Antifagator. You aint mean if you aint green.

Basically they already did that with tomatoes.
All it did was rile up the rest of the vegetables.<: <: <:
BTW it was the last movie I saw in a theatre that I didn’t get ‘paid’ to watch!!!
Don’t think it was the movie, just ‘gave up’ on going to theaters...
