Marie Cisco was fed up. America was in turmoil, rocked to its core by the brutal killing of George Floydat the knee of a police officer in Minneapolis. Protests against systemic racism and injustice had been raging for five days, and the nations theaters were excruciatingly silent in expressing support. Cisco, a producer who has worked with the New York-based National Black Theatre, the Public Theater, Lee Daniels Entertainment and the Apollo Theater, was not surprised by the crickets coming from these institutions self-professed bastions of liberalism and equality but she felt hurt and angry all the same. So Cisco created a public Google spreadsheet and titled it Theaters Not Speaking Out. It was open for anyone to edit, and it had a simple directive: Add names to this document who have not made a statement against injustices toward black people.

“Systemic racism”, “disparate impact”, etc, are just ways to pretend racism is still a real problem when we can no longer find any evidence for it.
Well, they are all shut down because of the COVID lockdowns, and most are laid off right now, so maybe there is nobody at the office to write apologetic press releases.
Here's the issue: at some point a real pushback needs to start or we are done as a nation. However the Pentagon is totally woke, big tech is tracking us all and silencing all dissent from woke speech. The big corporations have signed off on fascism and will be on board with silencing customers and firing employees who speak out. The media is serving up straight up revolutionary propaganda and because of the aforementioned censorship by bug tech their voice is rapidly becoming the only voice.
The left has marshaled their forces, we're still laying in our beds thinking 'gee, what's all that noise outside?'
“And it will soon be clear that systemic racism is the new name for Capitalism.”
It already is; capitalism is just another aspect of “systemic racism” according to the new and approved “correct thought”.
That’s been the case since the term was created. Amazing that so many are blind.
The new dictators need to write the script with the exact words to be spoken—breaking silence is too risky otherwise.
:-(
Well, I think many of the left have made a deliberate attempt to smokescreen it. Words like “progressive” and “transformative” and “authentic” are the pretty butterfly wings meant to distract you from the fact that in the end, it’s just a bug.
Oh, I was one of those people who never felt the need to watch that show, Seinfeld I think it was.
I'm waiting for someone with a platform to point out that our black athletes getting rich off Nike shoes made by slave labor in China are immersed in this "racist" system while still claiming that they, billionaires, are oppressed by me, teacher living in one bedroom apartment who spent 14 years paying off her student loan.
“Oh, I was one of those people who never felt the need to watch that show, Seinfeld I think it was.”
Nobody “felt the need to”. They watched it because they thought it was funny.
Just wait, it’ll be pulled from all reruns and streaming services soon.
If for nothing else, Michael Richard’s comments.
To that same degree, I cannot understand watching ice hockey.
Are you some kind of Darwinist?
“I still to this moment have idea why anyone would laugh at “a show about nothing” as they say.”
That’s not exactly surprising, since you didn’t watch it.
Madame Defarge knitting her list of names.
The penalty is death by decapitation by guillotine or being torn apart by the mob if you appear on Madame Defarges list
Yep, a not-so-subtle attempt at virtue signaling - similar to “never heard of him/her”, “I haven’t owned a TV since 1957”, blah blah blah.
