I remember hearing stories from my Grandfather in NY about how Italians were treated way back when.
Every group had their day, the Chinese, the Irish and the Blacks. Apparently only one Group hasn’t moved on from it...
They need to stop living in the past.
There is a GREAT HBO movie about this mass lynching of Italians in New Orleans. One of the more interesting films Ive seen in 10 years, it’s based on a very accurately researched book on the subject.
The film is called Vendetta.
Here is the free link:
Starring Christopher Walken. Bruce Davison, and other actors I’ve never heard of.
Not to be confused with other movies with Vendetta in the title. Seriously, watch this movie, y’all.
Btw, the lamppost where some of the Italians were hanged still stand on Canal Street in New Orleans, and the homes and graves can be found as well.
There is a difference . Unlike every other group you mention, American Blacks did not come here voluntarily. Govt efforts likely set back if not destroyed the movement of Blacks into the mainstream, particularly its role in destroying the black family . But the trials and success of other immigrant groups should not be used as a measurement of the status of blacks in America.
My Italian Great Grandfather was called a n*gger when he got off the boat-by Irishmen!
