For a few years now, Tesla started selling vehicles with upgradable software-locked capabilities, like 75 kWh battery pack software-locked at 60 kWh or higher power outputs enabled through software updates.
The most recent example is offering a $2,000 Acceleration Boost for the Model 3 Dual Motor.
Now André has launched a new company, Ingenext, to offer those performance upgrades to Model 3 owners at a lower cost.
Ingenexts pitch is that instead of paying $2,000 for Tesla to unlock capability that is already in your vehicle, you buy their system for $1,100 and you get the new acceleration boost and a few other goodies.
They are offering features that Tesla already offers, but they are unlocking them at a discounted rate. To be fair, they are also adding a few things on top of it.

“...you just do it for cash under the table and let the Tesla owners spread it through word of mouth.”
Methinks it may be Tesla telling everyone to stand back and watch them crush the poacher from the kings forest.
I recall a Tron light cycle game that was so fast on an ordinary PC-AT (when those were new) that it was unplayable.
Those were the days when some used to say of Windows that it was so fast that your 386 will fly like a 286 running DOS.
Indeed, to this very day there is no reason arising from game play that a game like Civilization 6 couldnt run on any 20 old PC except for all the things used to make it pretty.
“Before long, youll just get a kit and make it in your garage.”
You can believe that if you like.
“The Tesla Model Y teardown is starting to reveal the beautiful mega casting on the rear of the electric SUV, which could be a great manufacturing breakthrough.”
Heres his latest video about what he now calls Teslas mega casting:

Coming soon to a garage near your house!
Ask the farmers about the newer equipment.
The Digital Millennium Copyright Act
It all comes down to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. Passed in 1998, the DMCA was designed to specifically deal with issues of copyright and intellectual property in the digital age. At the time, it dealt with music, movies,
software, and other digital products.
The Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers is petitioning to have the software within the cars computer covered under the DMCA. They claim that they have a copyright on the software. Like software companies, theyd like to limit the ability of the consumer to copy or modify the software. If the petition is approved, then it could prevent car owners from performing any modification that changes the software

All that stored amperage combined with human written software.
I’m sure you heard about the guy who fried in his Tesla while the emergency people watched because the doors wouldn’t unlock.
Only sheeple will want a car like that.
“All that stored amperage combined with human written software.”
As opposed to software written by great apes?
Give it up!
You are making goat ropers everywhere look foolish.
“... the guy who fried in his Tesla while the emergency people watched because the doors wouldnt unlock.”
People have been trapped in cars since they were first invented. In many different ways, underwater, fire, frame bent in crash... Nothing new. Give it up.
Tesla is the most Autonomous vehicle on the market.
Tesla will be a great car for folks that consider a car a phone with wheels, and those that never look beyond the new and shiny and can appreciate how something really works. I guess it will be for people who look at cars the way most women look at cars.
It has the necessary software to drive you wherever you don’t want to go. And you pay for that privilege.
You are only a few millimetres away from a runaway battery fire. Remember when a road hazard could burn a Tesla up?
The fix was a little more steel plate on the bottom of the card. Now we know the bottom of the car is easily damaged, and drive through 6 inches of water with a small hole in the sheet metal. Hasn’t happened yet but it will.
Tesla owners hare having paid for options removed from their vehicles.
I like the built in video games on the car.
some good ones are the driving games where you use the steering wheel and pedals as the controls.

And I thought you were having a bit of fun?

Must have been a long lunch with extra napkins near Tesla’s office.
Fun stuff, never seen on the Fords, Chevys, Volvos... I’ve owned?
I know that most Freepers do not agree with me BUT....
I REALLY like Elon Musk.

Tesla autos are really pretty simple. All the high tech and is done up front in R&D. Beyond the battery there isnt any exotic materials or complex machining.
Without a doubt today’s conventional electronics/plastics are beyond stupid. A computerized device controls door lovks, ac vents, brakes, accellerator, suspension, motor, kill switches all over the place, et all, in the name of luxury.
Its all about planned obsolescence.
BMW/Merc are the biggest, the you have Chinese Range Rovers that are incredibly buggy.
“Its all about planned obsolescence.”
If that is true, when were vehicles not made with planned obsolescence?
The old ones with 6 volt systems/ Good luck below freezing?
1960-70? Good luck finding one not assembled on Monday or Friday? Or deer season or St Stanislaus Day...
The 1980s? with air pumps and a massive array of smog control crap.
The 1990s? Better but they came with touch controls. In case you missed it, read the rest of the thread about that crap; sadly detracting my most favored vehicle to date a 1994 Suburban.
The 2000s? Getting better especially Japanese cars.
So pls tell us about your lasts forever zero maintenance beater?

So it’s like a “tune’ for your Tesla. Not magic, just software hacking/reverse engineering.
Fact is, the batteries will still hole a finite amount of energy. So you may get improved acceleration, but at the price of shorter expected mileage per charge. Just like what Tesla offers.
Anyway, in the grand scheme of things, maybe not so bad for Tesla in the long run.

YES!
As long as they spell the name correctly.
I’m not 100% sure that Ford is Ok with what I’ve done with my F-150. But I’m not 100% sure that they’re not. A good tune for my purposes has optimized some functions and added HP/Torque, without destroying economy and drivability. Yeah, it’s tuned. Yeah, it’s quicker. But it’s still no Mustang/Corvette/Ferrari. :)
Just look at resale values on most BMW’s and Mercedes.
