I use MS Windows Defender
Best to you, as well.
Thanks.
I’m glad you told me.
I use Avira but have not gotten Opera from it or had my browser default changed. It might be because Ive had Avira a long time and havent used a newer fresh install option.
If it is doing that, certainly either dont use it or make sure to uninstall Opera.
The engineers at Apple and Microsoft are the best.
If Macintosh, then use the latest software, such as MAC OS 10. 15.
If PC, then use the best: Microsoft Security Essentials. Update it and use it daily or weekly.
AVG, Avast, Norton, McAffee, etc. are playing catch-up to Apple and Microsoft.
I use a mx of NOD32, Malwarebytes (free) and TorGuard VPN. It’s been working out pretty well so far.
Had the same issue with AVG. After years as one of their enterprise customers, I bit the bullet and switched to Norton 360 with a license for 10 systems. Included, is their VPN service. Working well so far, after one year since changing AV software. We have Norton 360 installed on our PCs, phones, laptops, kindles, and Ipads.
I use Webroot myself.
Tried Norton this year but had issues installing and my windows 7 pc actually blue screening.
SFL.
Norton, by itself is a virus.
Malwarebytes is in five PCs at our house for the last 12 years.
I uninstall Opera after I noticed it there. I tried it once before but uninstalled it after only a few days.
I just use Windows Security - stopped using all the ‘super-duper free’ crap years ago and haven’t had any issues.
I do use the free version of CCleaner to tidy things up once in a while and manage cookies.
My pleasure, Zorin is actually built on this Mint, same critter. They grabbed middleman control when with Mint it is just you and your OS, No middleman control or update issues.
I’m not sure how Zorin is even getting away with charging for the open source Linux kernel. The Linux kernel license says that is a no no. And they rebranded Ubuntu/Mint with their name.
It is a little deceptive how Zorin did this anyhow. It is Kernel and OS rustling... :)
I’ve been using Malwarebytes (the paid version) for a few years. Let’s me put it on both my wife’s and my computers. Includes protection for our Android phones. Protection is pretty comprehensive.
Also use Tunnelbear VPN on my PC and smart phone.
Ive heard of that program. How well does it work?
==========+=======
I’m no expert and I don’t have a lot of points of reference but, I think it works very well. I originally tried it because whatever I was using at the time was slowing things down so much. It’s very transparent, no noticeable slowing, no notification nagging, unless you configure that.
I needed support once. Someone from San Diego logged on to my PC and found some conflict/interaction between ESET and usoft’s AV.
They offer a free trial, give it a shot.

So we should all update our PCs-Win10 regularly.
Bad advice, my friend. I’ll bet your background is not in IT.
