Coronavirus patients who don’t have any symptoms aren’t driving the spread of the virus, World Health Organization officials said Monday, casting doubt on concerns by some researchers that the virus could be difficult to contain due to asymptomatic infections.

“From the data we have, it still seems to be rare that an asymptomatic person actually transmits onward to a secondary individual,” Dr. Maria Van Kerkhove, head of WHO’s emerging diseases and zoonosis unit, said at a news briefing from the United Nations agency’s Geneva headquarters. “It’s very rare.”

“We have a number of reports from countries who are doing very detailed contact tracing,” she said. “They’re following asymptomatic cases. They’re following contacts. And they’re not finding secondary transmission onward. It’s very rare.”
If asymptomatic spread proves to not be a main driver of coronavirus transmission, the policy implications could be tremendous. A report from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention published on April 1 cited the “potential for presymptomatic transmission” as a reason for the importance of social distancing
In addition to this statement, the WHO released a report last Friday that said:
At present, there is no direct evidence (from studies on COVID-19 and in healthy people in the community) on the effectiveness of universal masking of healthy people in the community to prevent infection with respiratory viruses, including COVID-19.
And
At the present time, the widespread use of masks by healthy people in the community setting is not yet supported by high quality or direct scientific evidence and there are potential benefits and harms to consider...
There is no reason to believe anything the WHO says, one way or the other. They were the ones who downplayed the threat at the behest of China to begin with.
End the Lockdown Now! Get Back to Work!
Sort of like grapefruit - it’s bad for you, it’s good for you, it’s bad for you again, etc.
The news - if correct - is good.
But, given it’s the WHO, the “if correct”” would and should be strongly doubted.
We’re talkin’ a bin of corrupt, mostly inept, lying buttwipes.
But the hoax lives on. Some can’t give up their COVIDism.
I hear you 5x5. I’m fighting that battle with my company management.
Oh it’s way past time for the lockdowns to be over...they were to blunt the initial spread and to observe in real time what we were dealing with, buy time for medical facilities to prepare, get supplied, etc. and businesses to reorganize to deal with it. Lockdowns were and have been continued well beyond that point in many places for no apparent reason.
Man, have we been played for fools ...
Translation: Asymptomatic coronavirus patients are spreading new infections.
I stopped reading as soon as it said WHO..WHO conspired with the Chinese to spread this virus world wide and we all know why did they did it too
About 2 months ago they were saying asymptomatic positives were still infectious. Now they’re not. I wonder what the story will be next month?
omygosh.
Thanks for that translation, I couldn’t read it in the original Chinese.
...and coffee, red meat, alcohol, et al..............
People are catching on.... the virus is mutating and changing.... now keep funding us.
At the present time, the widespread use of masks by healthy people in the community setting is not yet supported by high quality or direct scientific evidence and there are potential benefits and harms to consider...

Screw scientific conjecture. The important thing is masks have been latched onto by the Left as the trifecta of being a virtue signaling device, a means of public shaming, and evidence of control.
Cannot believe an organization with a political agenda. The WHO is trying to get us to let our guard down in hopes of a second wave spike.
If WHO said the sun rises every 24 hours, I would want independent verification.
