NASCAR holds moment of silence to address racial injustice

NASCAR utilized much of its pre-race show at Atlanta Motor Speedway to address the recent social unrest and the issue of systemic racism in the United States.

NASCAR Hall of Famer and FOX commentator Jeff Gordon opened the broadcast with his own statement, saying: "We are listening. We are learning. We are ready for change."

Bubba Wallace, the only African-American driver in the Cup Series, was wearing a shirt on pit road that read 'Black lives matter' and "I can't breathe," referencing George Floyd's plea to officers in his final moments.

“Change...hard work, sacrifice, thrift, no drugs, getting married before kids, staying married, no alcohol, getting an education, respecting authority, doing as directed by the police, not breaking the law.”

No one should have to do anything because ALL CULTURES ARE EQUAL!

NASCAR has been in such a financial spiral with no bottom in sight that they'll do anything for a buck. Anything.

These "Actors on Wheels" have about as much value in their scripted opinions as any other Televidiot - none.

Virtue signaling is basically stating something you don't believe in in an attempt to win the favor of others.

Think "Some of my best friends are black". This was a common statement back in the 1970s made by people who wanted to show how virtuous they were. But truth be told, they had ZERO friends who were black.

This will end when everyone is in prison camps with the exception of democrats...I’m completely fed up with the virtue signaling which is racist.

You know, I could really go for a moment of silence after the last 12 days.

The problem is I have to sit through a lecture first. No thank you.

"The black community and all people of color have suffered in our country, and it has taken far too long for us to hear their demands for change."

We've been hearing - and heeding - demands for change for seventy years. Hundreds of billions have been spent on programs - community outreach, affirmative action, financial assistance, etc. - directed at blacks and other minorities.

Some minorities - particularly Asians - are doing quite well, outpacing whites in college attendance and income. All of this rhetoric and virtue-signaling over the last two weeks acts as if none of that ever happened and that we're still stuck in the attitudes of 1950.

As a NASCAR fan, I am not impressed. Bubba Wallace, driver of CAr #43, wore a black “I Can’ Breathe” t-shirt before the race began. He also wore a face mask (face masks are required by NASCAR for the race teams). Take off the face mask, Bubba, and you will breathe better. And in God’s eyes, there is only one race, the human race, to which we all belong. Stop being divisive, Bubba. And stop pandering to foolish liberals, NASCAR. Doing so does no one any favors.

But none of the pandering will mean anything unless Bubba wins today. Don’t you GET THAT FOOLS??!

WHAT racial injustice? There is ZERO systemic racial in justice (if we don’t count affirmative action).

It’s also a way to curry favor and look hip / woke without actually doing anything constructive or putting any skin in the game to make things better.

You say, “NASCAR president Steve Phelps. Meet the guy who just killed off NASCAR. I am sure that all the ripple effect industries appreciate him as well.”
I am convinced that Joe Gibbs and Toyota killed off NASCAR. To bring it back to some semblance of what it was, allow the plutocrat car owners and their sponsors only two openings per event.

Bubba Wallace’s driving contract is ending this season. NASCAR can’t allow this. Look for them to pull some strings behind the scenes soon.

Also, Bubba Wallace rage-quit a virtual NASCAR race, then his sponsor dropped him
