In the wake of ongoing global protests against systemic racism and police brutality, Paramount Network has shelved Cops upcoming season premiere, TVLine has confirmed.
The long-running docuseries was slated to return for Season 33 on Monday, June 8 at 10/9c. Per the cablers schedule, Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II will instead air from 8 pm to 1 am that night. A rep for Paramount Network tells TVLine there are currently no plans to run any new Cops episodes in the future.
Additionally, A&E Network has opted not to air new episodes of Live PD on June 5 and 6 in light of recent events. Theres no word on when the shows fourth season will resume; episodes of Live Rescue, a Live PD spinoff that centers on firefighters, EMTs and paramedics, will air this weekend instead.
Out of respect for the families of George Floyd and others who have lost their lives, in consultation with the departments we follow, and in consideration for the safety of all involved, we have made the decision not to broadcast Live PD this weekend, A&E Network said in a statement to our sister site Variety, who broke the news.
The scheduling moves come almost two weeks after the May 25 murder of George Floyd, an unarmed Black man in Minneapolis who died after police officer Derek Chauvin held his knee on Floyds neck for more than eight minutes while arresting him. Chauvin has since been charged with both second-degree and third-degree murder (as well as second-degree manslaughter), while the three officers who watched Floyds arrest take place Tou Thao, Thomas Lane and J. Alexander Kueng have been charged with aiding and abetting murder.
Floyds death has sparked a wave of passionate protests around the world which, in many cities, have prompted additional incidents of police violence. Cops, which has been on the air since 1989, follows city police officers and sheriffs deputies during their patrols, with many segments ending in on-camera arrests. The show initially aired on Fox through 2013, when it moved to Paramount Network (formerly known as Spike TV). Live PD, which follows cops on patrol in real time, debuted on A&E Network in 2016 and was picked up for an additional 160 episodes earlier this year.
There was a graphic posted in some thread a day or so ago - black on black was like 56%, black on while about 35%, blacks killed by cops about 0.77%
Prison inmates are going to be pi$$ed. They watch those shows all the time. They love watching other perps get arrested.
Blue Bloods is my favorite crime show but this season I have seen the episodes take a definite move to the left.
I stopped watching Cops yrs ago when they admitted editing out black criminal arrests.
Live PD was the answer to O’Dumbo’s verbal assault against the police profession—taking the side of the criminal.
I guess with him still living in DC running the coup is winning on many fronts.
I have no doubts Bammy is up to his neck within the deep state. And very possibly the shot caller to destabilize this society.
Disclaimer: my conspiracy theories are subject to change without notice.
ROFL!! Very cute!
Next they'll be tearing down all the memorial walls to dead police officers. It won't matter that there's black and other people of color on those walls that have given their lives in the line of duty.
Candace Owens covered the most recent statistics in her video about Floyd not being a martyr.
Too much truth on Cops—had to be banned.
“I dindu nothing.”
Remember way back last month when cops were heroes for their selfless COVID-19 efforts?
Your little 100 lb dog:)
The show 48 hours had lots of criticism because of too many African american perpatraitors.
She thinks she’s big. She’s 20 pounds, just slightly bigger than a Jack Russell. She’s a Mountain Feist.
I just saw where the Mayor of DC has renamed a street Black Lives Matter (way or place??) near the church near the White House (St Johns??) and also the city painted BLACK LIVES MATTER on the street in HUGE letters in traffic yellow... I understand it is in the same area near the White House.
It is always the little ankle biters that cause the most trouble...The Great Danes and Pit Bulls that take a bullet will have most give you an ‘atta boy’ if it is attacking someone BUT a fluffy little dog that one can hold in ones hand gets all sorts of sympathy even if it is nipping at your ankles and heels and DON’T even think of ‘kicking it away’.
I saw two 30-minute episodes of LIVE PD this evening in Maine.
Help me here. So if NYC and the rest of the super blue municipalities defund the police and replace them with social workers, why do they need no bail laws when there is no one to set no bail for? In cases of a 311 call for rape in progress, is a therapist dispatched to the scene to help predator and victim work out their “relationship issues”? Will criminal defense attorneys have to learn how to code to stay off the unemployment line? Will the next Black Lives Matter placards protesting out of control white racist therapists read “Hands up, don’t analyze”?
What will they do when they realize that Ghostbusters is racist (no black ghosts)?
/s
Seems like you have the gist of it.
For reference, watch Escape from NY.
Hes too stupid to call the shots on anything
They’re covering for bad boys.
That's weird. As recent as a months back, we saw blacks being busted.
