I searched for ‘roger ball’ and found this. From Urban Dictionary:

“Roger Ball” is the final communication before a carrier landing. You might say “nothing can stop what’s coming”.

I’d posted a speculation that Trump would make the Roger ball call(acknowledgement) on Sunday. I was off by a day is all ;-)

In this case, I don’t think the UD definition applies. IMO It’s carrier pilot lingo to say they are landing.

The goal of every Naval Aviator anyway is to sound cool on the radio especially when stressed [so] extraneous words are omitted when possible. The response to ‘call the ball’ assuming you can see it is ‘roger ball’ or better ‘rog ball’.

From me now -

We can go over “call the ball” again if need be, but it’s in yesterday’s posts. Let us know if you need someone to narrow down the post numbers.
