The guy flying the 3 kites is in his 80s, and he's from Canada. He comes to the Washington State International Kite Festival every year. His skin is like leather as he normally flies with his shirt off. He is deaf, so when he flies we hold our hands up and wave them for applause. He flies 2 with his hands and the 3rd one is attached to his waist. Enjoy!
Nice video. In my area of California, there is a big kite festival that happens every summer. Last weekend in July.
It’s held at the Berkeley Marina, a grassy mound of land near a windy, water lined area. The Richmond/ San Rafael Bridge is less than a mile away.
I have walking problems and don’t attend anymore, but I still like knowing that it’s going on. Lots of families turn up for it, with huge, colorful and unusual kites. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Kite Festival is cancelled due to you know what (Covid), but maybe it will happen anyway.
When I was a kid in the 50s kite flying was much more popular than it is now. I enjoyed it tho never tried anything but just a standard kite.
It was sometimes hard to get them in the air but once you did it was easy.
Every store used to sell them, well most stores.
They almost looked like planes flying in formations. 8>)
Thank you for posting this delightful diversion from bad news.
He’s definitely an interesting man. I had to laugh when he revealed his profession. 8>)
A distraction from all the bad for something good & cool too. But then went with Kite Flying. 8>)
Thanks for the post. Awesome man and kite flying!
